Brought my mom and a family member from out of town to Casa De Fruta Restaurant 3 days ago for some slices of pies and some coffees since it was cold that day and we were about to head home from a busy day out. The last time I had been there with my family had been a very long time. 10+ yrs. So we go in and see about 3-4 customers ahead of us. The young cashier took our order and as she was about to start getting our order, an older lady who was waitressing comes up and asks if we are taking our order to dine in or to go? I tell her to dine in. The waitress tells me you're not supposed to order at the cash register of you're dining in. (When we walked in, there was no one up front to ask if dining in to show us to our seat. So we waited in line.) The cashier asked the waitress what she should do. The waitress told her rudely that she would have to change the order that I had already paid for, to dine in. Mind you, there are about 4 other customers who where dining in also in line behind us. My mom asked if there was a problem, because the waitress made it seem like us dining in after paying for our order at the register was an issue. She repeated again that we should have sat down and placed our order at the table. My mom told her, now it seems like it's an inconvenience for us to get our purchased order sent to a table. And that we didn't know we were supposed to sit first, order and then pay. It had been a long time since we came to dine at the restaurant. And once again the waitress rudely said, "If you had been here before, you should have known to sit and then order". THANK GOD our family guest was in the bathroom during this time. So she had no clue was happening. We decided to stay because it was freezing outside, we wanted something warm and a dessert. We sat at a table and the kind cashier told us that she could show us a different table because the area we sat in was being waitressed by the rude lady. She kept apologizing for how rude the waitress was. Had it not been for the kindness and great service from the cashier, I would have given this 0 stars. Pies are delicious but a bit...

I had came in and ordered eggs Benedict and was served ice cold ham and cold eggs. I sent the food back to the kitchen to have the food remade and the second time around the food was hot.
I was not given any silverware and when I asked one waitress for silverware she acted like she didn’t speak English so I spoke to her in Spanish and asked her for silverware. She laughed at me and told me to use my fingers or eat like a dog. Another waitress came over and gave me silverware and apologized for the other waitresses attitude.
When I finished eating and went to pay a bill of $22.46 I was charged a separate transaction of $24.65 because I sent back the first plate.
I spoke with the manager Habib about the unauthorized transaction made to my card when the receipt I was given was for $22.46. He told me that he doesn’t care, cussed me out in front of customers and told me to call my bank and make a report because he doesn’t have to give me a refund. I then asked him then why is there two transactions when I only made one. Habib’s excuse was that it is my bank that made the transaction and that my bank probably wanted something. His sarcasm was uncalled for and it was an admission of guilt.
When I told him that I would be leaving a review, calling Better Business Bureau, calling my bank and filing a police report for fraudulent transactions he screamed in my face. I feared for my life...
Read moreUsually give Casa De Fruta 5 stars for everything but what happened to my husband the day (Monday Aug 5th, 2024)of the fire on 152 your greeters were so incredibly rude to him, that I just couldn't let it go. We love love love Casa De Fruta, so when 152 closed because of a fire he went to Casa (home away from home) Because he was coming from work at Stanford he was in his work clothes, his jeans were slightly dirty from working all day. He works hard he and commutes back & forth every day. He walked in your restaurant and waited his turn to be seated only to be looked up and down and asked "what do you want?" snottily. His response was " I believe I want to sit and eat some dinner", he was then ushered to a table of an older waitress, who was so sweet and understood that we ALL work hard. She redeemed what happened to him. It's sad that greet staff would judge someone on site and be so rude, not realizing he makes 5 to 6x what they make. Always tips generously. No one should be judged because they work hard, it just so happened that he had to do a job that got him dirty on his jeans, but to be treated as if he was homeless looking for a handout is unacceptable. Sad, cause Casa restaurant is a favorite stop for a Sunday lunch. Pls have your older staff, school your young staff on etiquette. You never know what is behind those jeans. Made me so upset, ...
