Chic-A-Sea Restaurant — Restaurant in Newport News

Today was my 1st time trying this location, which would be my 2nd time all together trying the food. I ordered a big chic combo with a coke also tried the fried liver and corn fritters. The big chic had a lot of sauce but the sauce didn't have a taste to it very bland I had about 4 small strips of lettuce on the sandwich and I guess mayo. It wasn't good at all the chicken was very thin and like I was just eating a chicken skin sandwich. I wanted a coke but they gave me a cherry drink I don't really see the hype about this place tahitian treat cherry drink is much better the fried liver was well seasoned but had a burnt taste to it. The said thing about this location is the process. It does not matter if you order a half hour out. Your still going to wait 15 to 20 minutes. The product is great but you can't get the food if you have time restraints. But, I thought was the purpose of calling in advance. This time I was trying to give a co-worker the big chick experience. The response normally is they were backed up. It is always backed up even with no one in the store. So i have to go back tomorrow with my receipt and get a refund. I never seen a place that you can plenty of chicken and fish cooked but 20 minutes to get the product and still have to wait the same amount of time if you call in way in advance. I also hear the same thing everytime I mentioned this store. Good food, but too dam slow and they don't have that much time to wait....

This is not one of those chain chicken restaurant! I have always heard about this place but never went until today. And it was A-MAZING. I got a 3 piece meal with white meat. The chicken was so fresh and real! There was nothing odd about the texture like some places. And the pieces were nice size but not overly large like they had been working out. Even the roll that came with it was delicious with the chicken. I chose fries as my side and yep they were yummy too! I chose a cherry drink that I had heard so much about and my oh my! I am sad I waited so long to visit, but now I know. Now to set the proper expectations, service was a tad slow but that is because everything is back there being cooked like grandma used to do in her kitchen and the food was definitely worth the wait.
