I’ve been going to the Front Porch since I can remember! It’s a family-owned restaurant, and the same lady has been cooking for them since she was 18 years old. Boy, does she know how to throw down in the kitchen! My old school teacher told me the house actually used to belong to one of her friends, but when they turned the road into a busy highway they sold; so for anyone thinking it needs an upgrade, there’s a lot of history behind it. I highly recommend the baked chicken, fried pork chops, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and broccoli casserole, but you can’t go wrong with anything. Fried green tomatoes should always be eaten as an appetizer… they are the best I’ve ever had (just not sold on Sunday). Don’t even think about not trying the cornbread. Not many places can top it! It’s buttery with a hint of sweetness, and never dry. If you’re looking for local catering, they’re always a good option. We used to get the BBQ, Mac and cheese and green beans for our birthday parties. I’ve moved to Charlotte, but will always road trip back home for some front porch!!! If you’re stopping by exit 65 off of 77, make the...
Read moreNOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!! GO ELSEWHERE!! This place came highly recommend BUT it was the WORST experience ever!!! They ran out of almost all the main food items, ran out of soda , etc. We ordered the SIMPLE one meat and vegetables and hamburger steak…..over an hour later, still NO food except the fried pickles. EVERYONE that came in after us got their food!!! When I asked , I was told that it depends on what you order !!!! We ordered the basic baked chicken with the vegetables.. Then the waitress told us that there were a couple more orders in front of ours….. AFTER AN HOUR!!!!! Everyone one else had their food!!! We asked for a refill of soda, and she said they ran out. The waitress and service was beyond horrible, and she acted like it was our fault Because we ordered COMPLICATED food?!?! Baked chicken, vegetables, salad, and a piece of hamburger Complicated?!?!? What a joke!!!! PLUS, She came to ask if we wanted dessert, and I told her that we haven’t even gotten our main food yet!! How does a restaurant run out of multiple food items and soda??? Fast food is better than...
Read moreI stopped here on the recommendation of a local. There aren't very many spots around where you can get somewhat healthy food from, so I was pleased to find this place.
It looked just like an old country restaurant inside (think cracker barrel minus the separator walls). It was definitely not what I was used to but it was welcomed. Everyone working there looked like caring mothers. I felt moderately comfortable like a child being babysat by someone else for the first time. They were nice overall. I felt as if there was no rush for me to choose a meal. I appreciated that.
The food was pretty good. I didn't particularly care for one of my sides. I won't mention which one because I don't think I'm acquainted with this particular side enough to make a judgement on if it was poor execution or if it was supposed to taste the way it did. It wasn't terrible, it was just an unfamiliar taste. Honestly, I just think the main ingredient was overpowered by the rest of the ingredients.
I bought more than the required two side items.
If you're in the area you should...
