WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL FOR EVENTS!!!! Chose Joe's over other restaurants in the area to host my rehearsal dinner. Set up everything months in advanced and agreed to a set menu and only food on the tab. All alcohol would be separate and the guests would be responsible for. She assured me that two servers would be helping us, that including herself. Called a few days before event to confirm everything we had originally planned to do. I asked if it was at all possible to call ahead, at least for the wedding party's order to get the kitchen rolling so they wouldn't be bombarded with twenty some orders at one time. Colleen, who I made the arrangements with, said no and they did not allow that. But they assured me that we were the only party and that they would not be busy at all. My guests arrived earlier than I and en route told me that they were given normal menus. Confused, my fiancé called and asked what was going on. Colleen said there was a miscommunication and was not sure why they were given regular menus. She took all menus away from them after already looking at them and was told there would be another menu. I arrived at least 30 minutes after the first guest arrived and by the time I got there she told me they were still printing. Fine, okay. But it gets better she hands out a piece of paper and pens and tells everyone to circle what they want. No descriptions of the dishes, no instructions on how many sides to chose. In the midst of handing out terrible menus, she brought salads and called out what she had. This is not how a restaurant should be serving. She apologized and said that someone called out so she will serving all 27 of us by herself. She said she couldn't do anything about it because the other server called out three hours prior. I ended up serving my own guests, as the bride to help accommodate their lack of staff and communication. After I finally cooled off, the owner came to me with a bottle of wine. I was extremely grateful, but I don't think that equated to the amount of disappointment that I experienced. My father, who was paying the bill, poured A1 sauce onto his plate and out popped a penny. The bill finally came and what do you know... everything all on one bill, after I specifically asked for alcohol to be separate.
THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED AT ANY RESTAURANT! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T...
Read moreThis is my first time writing a google review, ever. I read a lot of these reviews before coming here and was baffled at how this place has this many good reviews. Perhaps it’s a matter of location given that there’s like only 5 restaurants in Dinwiddie. That and if you’re someone that doesn’t like any spice and simply don’t feel like cooking at home, then I suppose this could be the place is the for you.
The appetizers were okay at best. The entree I ordered is the beef Shepard’s pie. It felt like I was eating a smashed up frozen hamburger patty with instant mash potatoes on top. I took two bites of it and decided to order a club instead, thinking surely there’s no way to mess up a simple sandwich. The bread was so soggy that I couldn’t even lift the sandwich without things falling apart, and this is coming from someone who traditionally eats gluten free! They also used the equivalent of taco shredded lettuce on it instead of an actual piece of lettuce.
We ordered over $100 worth of food and almost everything we got had no seasoning; felt like store bought sauces and recently heated frozen food. The deserts are definitely store bought. Overall I could’ve saved some money and made food at home that tasted so much better.
It also took an hour for our food to come out, and normally that doesn’t bother me becuase I’ve worked in the food industry before and understand staffing shortages, but the quality of the food simply did not justify the wait time whatsoever.
The only nice thing I have to say is the staff is friendly, parking is easy; and if I set aside how greasy our menus were, it’s an overall clean place.
For my gluten sensitive homies though, there’s almost nothing you can order here. I’d definitely suggest going somewhere else if...
Read moreThere were 5 in our party. We were seated in about 5 minutes. Waitress was some what attentive, but the wait for our food order was very unreasonable. 1 1/2 hours. We wondered if they had to butcher the cow. Nobody came to let us know why the long wait. We noticed that customers that was seated awhile after we were seated, they got their order, and were finished eating and left, we were still waiting. Getting our waitresses attention wasn't easy, she was all over the place. I finally flagged a waiter down and asked if he could find why we had to wait so long. Again, waitress was no where in our site. When she saw we asked another waiter for something, she immediately came over, after he retrieved something for us. We gave her a good tip but she really didn't deserve it, but it is what we do. Maybe she was new, or having a bad day. I was very surprised, when we walked in, we were asked if we had reservations, the hostess replied, well let me see what she could do. I thought to myself, this isn't a top end restaurant, formal dress isn't required , why do I have to have a reservation. If Joe's is going to be a stuffed shirt and only cater to people that make reservations, we can go elsewhere, to a very upper end of dining. Plus, the steak wasn't medium Rare, did we send it back, no we don't do that. I don't think we will be going to Joe's anytime soon and doubt if we will bring others with us to dine. If you are going to try to be high class, you better get high class waitress/ waiters and chefs. Had a good time conversing, since we waited 1 1/2 hours to be served. We would have told the waitress about the steak not being cooked as ordered but our waitress never came back to our table, within a reasonable time , to tell her, so we ate our...
