I used to like this place, but as others have mentioned, the service has went terribly downhill, the prices have went up, and the quality of food has declined. When I was in most recently, the staff couldn't be bothered to acknowledge that I was standing at the register waiting to order for several minutes. While I was standing there waiting, one of the staff just aimlessly walked around, casually wiping up counters, no even making eye contact. Weird. That should've been my cue to leave. When I'm spending $50+ for two people to eat, I expect at least BASIC customer service. I would've gotten better service at McDonald's. At any rate, none of the staff were wearings masks. No matter what you think about masks, the fact remains that masks at this time are required by the state to be worn in all indoor settings. It's not up to the staff to decide if they do or do not want to follow a state order. If the staff can't follow this simple heath/safety rule, what other health/safety rules are they breaking while making my food? Furthermore, I heard one of the staff complain about coming back from the grocery store and getting in trouble there for refusing to wear a mask. To top it all off, I'm all but certain the "halibut" I ordered was actually cod. I used to come here every time when in Tillamook, but...
Read moreUpon arriving here everything looked a bit rundown, but there were many cars coming and going for their orders. Often these are signs that something great is happening inside those four walls, food that speaks for itself, that doesn't need anything fancy to enhance it's presentation. This wasn't the case here. I don't know if I came on a bad night, or arrived years too late for a decent meal, but I was wildly disappointed by what was presented to me. I only ordered a cup of chowder and a shrimp coctail. The cocktail might be impossible to do wrong, so that was good. The chowder on the other hand was bad. It was served to me lukewarm, and I tried to eat it anyway. The flavors were fine, but the gelatinous blobs of near cold chowder were tough to swallow. I decided to take it 40 minutes to home, but felt uneasy about how long it had potentially been sitting at room temperature, so I tossed it. I gave 2 stars because my wife said her fish and chips were "alright." I believe in second chances, and if I'm ever in a position to give them one maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll have to wash the bad taste out of my mouth...
Read moreIf you're anywhere near Tillamook, Oregon, do yourself a favor and stop by the Old Oregon Smokehouse. This little hidden gem is easy to miss, but trust me, it's worth finding! Just look to the right as you approach the Tillamook Creamery, and you'll see this unassuming spot that serves up some of the best food we've ever tasted.
I ordered the lobster melt with a side of clam chowder, and both were ridiculously delicious. As someone who’s from California, I can confidently say I've never had a lobster roll that even comes close to the one I was served here. It was absolutely divine—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend opted for the chicken sandwich with fries, and let me tell you, that chicken was out of this world! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The special sauce and coleslaw were excellent additions that took the meal to another level.
The staff here are friendly, the service is fast, and the prices are fair. It may be a little hole in the wall, but it's a must-visit spot if you're in the area. 1000% recommend this place—we can't wait...
