Looks can be deceiving. Looked abandoned. Queried couple eating on red bench who growled, knock on the window, he may still have something left when I noticed the sign, "Ran out of food. Thanks for the Love." The window burst open and a smiling face whispered, "sorry, we ran out of food again..." It was just after noon. People were ordering ahead of time and coming from an hour away to eat here. The kid who had taken the last cheesehamburger was from Riverside. The growling couple shared when asked if they were from out of town, "oh, hell no! We were born and raised here..." pointing his finger, "down yonder," his wife nodding in agreement. My son and I got what was left and were satisfied but those eating told of the stories of the carne asada burritos and cheeseburgers. The kid from Riverside with a mouth full of cheeseburger could only nod in agreement. I'll pass through again and try one of these legendary cheeseburgers. But legendary or not, the kindness of the man who opened that window to me and my son, to his mother who behind him scurried to find his she could help two hungry folks, well, I'll rather give them my money than any stock broker owned restaurant and what they did pull together was one of the best dishes of eaten in a long time. Still don't know what it was. A little if this and a little of that, sort of a pastrami, carne asada, burrito torta cheeseburger but definitely the best one I've ever eaten. My son asked me as we drove away, can we stop here on the way back. "Of course," because little places like this are what memories and experiences are made of. So when you see this abandoned looking shack, look a little closer for the sign that says, "Ran out of food. Thanks for the Love." because...

Read moreThere are many different approaches to cheeseburgers, but the one taken here (a classic, thin-patty, american diner style) is probably my favorite, and the burger I had here today was up there as one of the tastiest burgers I've ever had in my life. The patty, bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and mayo were all perfect and in perfect proportion to each other. I will be thinking about this burger for a long time, and I might begin a tradition of driving to Las Vegas instead of flying in order to eat here again. The service was also top-notch; Richard was incredibly kind and it makes me happy to see a business like this still existing in this day and age. Be sure to bring cash, and don't be afraid to call ahead as they close once...
