Update! I personally spoke to the owner of Jefferson St. BBQ. Lindsey called me today to discuss our experience last night. We were able to go over what had happened, and she had shared that they already had a staff meeting and refunded our money. I wasn't expecting a refund, but I was grateful for it. More importantly, it was so refreshing that she called to have that conversation. In a world where these things (conversation) rarely happen nowadays, it was nice to have the concern be there. I was informed that they have a new cook that is learning the ropes, so I 100% completely understand. There is grace in the learning of all new things. I left my review and wasn't expecting anyone to reach out. However, I was pleasantly surprised. We will be trying Jefferson St. BBQ again. Thank you, Lindsey and to all the staff there!
Jefferson St. BBQ was recommended to us by a friend, so this was our first time. We chose to order online and pick it up on our way home. I don't ever like to leave reviews like this, but we were disappointed in the order we received and some of the food. I ordered the Nasty Dog, and it was missing the slaw. The fresh onions (that I requested to be added) were missing as well, and it was extremely dry. The pickle was also missing. However, the pulled pork on it was really good. The pulled pork and brisket in my boyfriend's meal was very good as well. We also got the bacon caramel cheesecake and the churro cheesecake, and they were so salty we couldn't eat them. It was almost like someone grabbed the salt instead of the sugar when making them. It was just disappointing that we paid $65 for the order not to be correct and some of the food to be lacking. For transparency, we were informed that the kitchen was behind this evening, so I understand having an "off" night. It just felt like the meal was thrown together once we opened our containers. We might try eating here again but eat inside next time.
The staff were very kind...
Read moreBeen here many times for takeout the many years. Rarely has anything been correct. From missing sides, missing entrees, and missing sauce. For roughly $20 a plate and basic orders done online in a clear way they struggle. Today however took the cake as the manager said the kitchen definitely put the order together correctly and wouldn't fix the issue despite being local. The downfall is happening at this restaurant as their menu has been gradually getting smaller and the prices are going up. Sauce there used to be creamy, but now is runny like water. Really want to support local businesses, but Obi's BBQ in Marion is the same quality/cheaper/great order accuracy. I am sure they try hard, but the cost is higher than typical and the service is poor.
To put it in perspective Friday @ 12:30pm there was 2 tables being waited on inside (mostly empty) and I was the only one waiting for a togo order and it still was just too hard to do correctly.
Wish this place the best, but the price doesn't match the service.
Manager thinks the solution to their errors is for the customer to resolve. In the past they forget an entree and think it is appropriate for the customer to drive another 40 min. Forget sides same thing, and today they can't even put sauce with their food. The one ounce cup of sauce for 4 entrees was water so likely didn't miss out on anything. Claims I yelled at their staff is not true. I gave the manager constructive feedback that believes incomplete orders constantly is just how humans are. He claimed staffing issues, but there was easily 3 workers to 1 customer. Sounds like management issues.

Read moreNot even sure where to begin this true story. Had a reservation (they text us twice confirming it) for 9-10 people at 630pm on a Saturday evening. Arrived on time to be seated at a table for 5. So we pull over 5 more chairs no big deal...and next we're told "we have no pulled pork, no chicken and no brisket". We ask well what do you have? We have bacon, ribs and macaroni and cheese. At a barbeque restaurant? So as intended, we try to laugh it off and enjoy our get together. Once the food arrives, for the half the group that did even order anything, the caprese salad is not very tasty so our guest (ever so politely) asks to replace it with "mac and cheese please". Our server actually stood at our table, with some device in her ear, staring at us with the utmost fear on her face..at this point our guest added (with a smile on her face) "I'm not mad" and the server never said one word then turned her back on our table and ran away. We were unsure if she even heard what was asked of her. Next a different server comes to let us know our server is crying in the backroom. I guess she was already pretty beaten down by all the customers before us who had been told there was no food. Keeping in mind the restaurant had opened at 5pm and this was just after 630. No food and no service..mind blown. Not sure how this restaurant remains open not serving what they supposedly sell and while barely open any hours for loyal customers let alone trying to keep good servers with the minimal hours they have. We have been coming here supporting them since this restaurant opened but...
