If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would, but alas, I cannot. Before I begin this explanation, I would like to give you some context: I am a local and breakfast is my favorite meal! Note: If you don’t want to read the review, my recommendations for better breakfast places are at the bottom:) So, first off, welcome, I am here to review the newish restaurant 1091 Rooftop for breakfast. Second, I must issue a disclaimer about the hotel itself: We aren’t staying at the hotel, and the hotel staff were actually super nice. They saw that I was upset and calmed me down after “the accident,“ as I am calling it, caused me to cry. As a result, I cannot say anything negative about the hotel itself. The front desk agreed with me, but according to the hotel staff, the restaurant is a completely separate entity, so they couldn’t do anything. Now, to the part you have all been waiting for…THE restaurant Itself. I am going to do something I never do, and speed through the food part. There is only one word that can describe this food: Mediocre. That why I cannot really talk about it, what is there to talk about when something is mediocre, it’s not that good but not that bad. When people say something is mediocre, they shrug their shoulders and move on, because what can you say?!? It’s not worth it. And that’s what this restaurant is: Not Worth It. But, since you’re still here, I assume you want the hot goss of what made me write such a long review. Well, wait no longer! The issue was that a guest of the hotel was rude to my husband and myself, which caused me to become upset, obviously. As such, as soon as we got our food, I pretty immediately said: I would like to leave, I explained the situation, and asked for a refund, as I could no longer eat. I was shaking, crying, and it didn’t matter. When did it become okay to treat strangers like garbage? Well, the restaurant refused, obviously, and that was that. My husband paid and we left without eating. (note: I know you’re asking yourself right about now, how do you know the food was mediocre if you didn’t eat it? Well, I will tell you. We had been there about two weeks before, it was completely empty with only one new server, and it wasn’t great. So, we both used to work in restaurants, we understand, thus, we wanted to give them a second chance. I thought it was growing pains, turns out… it’s notttt.) Oh! And to add injury to insult, there was an older gentleman behind me, who said loudly, “Sure, he [the other guest] is annoying, but I wouldn’t CRY about it,” and then laughed. Overall, this restaurant ensured that we had a great relaxing breakfast experience. Ha. So, the choice is yours, if that is the kind of place you want to support, then that is your right. Now, as a local, if you are STILL reading this, then you’re looking for breakfast in Cookeville and are not sure where to go. That’s great!! Because I can give you some GREAT recommendations of several places with amazing food and great customer service! For those interested in Local Places: Poets - Coffee House with amazing breakfast sandwiches - there are 2 locations - both good :) 37 Cedar has a great brunch! Hix Brewery has amazing breakfast events, but check website for details. Also, some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, seriously, why wouldn’t you want to go here. For Donuts: Ralph’s or Big O’s. If you aren’t a local, just know there’s a FIRECE debate of which is better, right now I’m Switzerland, they are both good! Better than this place! Grandma’s Pancake House. BEST!! Just amazing food, and their omelettes are ridiculous! Bravo’s Cafe - This is a good place for a traditional breakfast with lots of sides! If you Prefer a Chain Restaurant: Cracker Barrel Panera Unfortunately, I no longer recommend ihop or Dunkin’s, they seemed to have never recovered from Covid.
Our now shared journey has unfortunately come to an end, I hope you found this both enjoyable and informative. And I hope to see you out eating amazing breakfast, just…not at...

Jamie is this person, The disrespect and straight up disregard for human decency was just unfounded never in my life I have I ever been subjected to such horrors of disrespectful customer service. To be treated with such disrespect and disregard as I was treated in this restaurant is by far the worst in the country. I have been to all the lower 48 states and never has anyone come to me and boldface lied on another employee just so that that person can get more tips. When Jamie was called out for her abhorrent behavior she even had the audacity to tell me "well I have to do what I have to do to get my tips" Jacob is the one that should be paid in tips for March the 10th 2024 because Jamie did nothing except lie to the customers and throw her fellow employee under the bus just so that she could receive more tips she is a dangerous person that should be fired posthaste. Jamie is an abhorrent person. The way in which we were subjected to was just mind boggling. How does a person tell the customer one thing and then tell the other server some different causing the 2nd server to be upset with the customer, however the 1st server, Jamie, is the one that messed everything up. You can fix your teeth and make up prison time however trash will always be trash. Jacob and Wesley are great, Jamie is the PROBLEM!!!! Atrocious do not stop here and eat at this restaurant unless you are willing to LOSE money. WHEN PEOPLE SAY "HIGHWAY ROBBERY" THIS IS A PLACE THAT THEY ARE...
Read moreThis place messed up my order and when I asked for what I wanted and explained that the pancakes were larger yesterday. She brought 2 pancakes the size and thickness of corn bread. Still wet inside. When the manager came up they tried to say that the pancakes were made right. You don't go from making pancakes that are fluffy to corn bread looking pancakes. It wasn't my fault that they didn't put the blue berries in the first ones. My eggs were over cooked but you could eat them but the replacement pancakes were a joke. Then when I told them how I felt about the pancakes they turned the music so loud. This sounded like a bar. My niece is handicap and has problems with loud voices. The manager wouldn't remove the pancakes off the order and when I was told I could order 1/2 order of toast the charged full price and the manage stated they wouldn't remove the pancakes or the extra charge from the bill even when the waitress started that I was in the right. Stated they would call the police. Since I had my niece with me and I had to check out of the hotel in 40 min I left but if I'd been alone id have waited for the police. This was the third time in two days we ate here because we stayed in the hotel. I have spent 155.00 for three meals. I've never been treated so bad. I like staying at this hotel but never again. I was on the edge of crying when they brought those pancakes to her. Look...
