Waffle House — Restaurant in Cookeville

I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but I feel like my visit with this Waffle House warrants it. Me and my girlfriend went a couple days ago and when we went in we were not greeted at the door, it wasn't terribly busy and it's not fine dining, but we expected to at least be told "Hi" and that they'll be with us shortly. Instead we stood there waiting to be sat. There were 4 empty booths, but none of them were clean. It took us 20 minutes to finally have a table cleared for us and for us to be sat. But get this... THE TABLE DIDN'T EVEN GET CLEARED BY A WORKER! A CUSTOMER CLEARED THE TABLE FOR US BECAUSE HE REALIZED HOW LONG WE HAD BEEN WAITING! We sat down and ordered and our drinks were brought to us, only to see the water was foggy and not clean, and there was a hole in my cup and was leaking all over the table. The worker got a new cup for me but didn’t clean up the mess from the first water she brought, and her fingernails were dirty and unkempt. We finally got half our food brought to us but we were already done eating the rest of our food by the time we were finally brought our waffle. Overall not a great experience. Food was ok. Cheap, quick. We'd been looking forward to trying a Waffle House before the end of our trip and came here. Lucked out, had the last open table so we got in before having to head for the airport. But the waitress really messed up the order in her favor which bothered me. I ordered a sausage bowl, she put in the order with gravy on top. I hate sending things back so I didn't say anything at the time but I found out that I really dislike eggs with gravy on them. I figured maybe it was a kitchen error so we wouldn't be charged for the mistake but we were charged. We were also charged for a mysterious side order of meat that we 1. didn't order and 2. didn't receive. She also forgot whether or not she'd taken our order to begin with which didn't give me much confidence in the accuracy of the order and we heard her calling it in a good 10 minutes after we ordered. What should have been a $15 meal ended up being more like $22 and it's more about the principal of it than the actual amount. Made me sad about the chain. But I'm sure other...

I never leave bad reviews about Waffle House. We’ve always had a wonderful experience there and we always go to the same one. The one on Willow across from the Shell station , anyways we went yesterday on a Sunday 6/22/25 and everyone was yelling and screaming at the cook and they were yelling and screaming at each other to the point we’re almost got up and left because my nerves were shot. me and my boyfriend couldn’t even hear each other talk because they were yelling at each other so loudly. I just felt like it was not a professional atmosphere at all!!! I’m not sure if they had a new person that day or what but it was so unprofessional !!! However we will be back because our food was outstanding!! Our waitress was really really nice !!! and they served us very fast as usual. I just wish that they wouldn’t yell and scream at each other and be ugly to each other so loudly it was really rude and honestly, I’ve never seen that before at that...
