I'm vegan so its already a sketchy situation going into a new place to find food. My lady and I asked when ordering if they have good options for us and the young woman taking our order clearly didn't know anything about vegan/vegetarian diets, which is fine, it just makes it more complicated getting through an order when I already know we're going to be a little more high maintenance than usual. She was new so she asked someone who had been there longer who also was fairly unfamiliar with what we were asking for which, again, is fine.
We made it through our order but while we were waiting for our food, the new gal, who was very sweet, came to us and asked questions about veganism and vegetarianism so she could understand the differences. I couldn't be more impressed with her and the Denny's. For her to reach out and want to learn, for whatever the reason, is commendable and carries weight with me.
This isn't my first rodeo with places unfamiliar with veganism so based on my experiences, my expectations are low for the food quality. However I was on a hangry countdown with my woman where every minute now matters after we'd been driving for a while around only seafood-based restaurants at the coast and there weren't many places to eat that were open on a Sunday especially being from out of town, not knowing what is in the area. I was unexpectedly delighted and excited about what we were given. The mojo order was a mountain! The pizza was as loaded with veggies as any I've ever seen and probably one of the best pizzas I've had. I loved it.
My only regret is not getting her name and tipping her more. I may plan a trip back soon...
Read moreGreat spot for lunch or dinner. Staff is always friendly and the environment is lively, especially before or after local sports. It's a great spot to meet friends and family that are visiting the area.
For lunch, my favorites are the Calzone, personal pizza or shrimp salad. For dinner, I'm a big fan of their chicken & artichoke pizza, while my kids prefer the cowboy pizza. Their beer, ice tea and soda selection is sizeable too.
My parents are big fans of their taco pizza. (The salsa is the main reason that I don't order that pizza if I'm eating it there. I'm not a fan of it. I do think this pizza needs salsa, just that it would be better with something like the local ones made by Coquille Produce. That's why I prefer to order it to-go, so I can add my favorite toppings.)
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is there have been several times over the last couple of years where the delivery times were way too long, and weren't updated online. I take this with a grain of salt though, knowing that every business, everywhere, is experiencing labor shortages. So what I do now, instead of ordering online, is just call in and ask them for a realistic timeline. If delivery is going to take too long, then I just call it in and pick...
Read moreThe staff is nice enough, but the last two pizzas I got here were terrible ! One was a sausage mushroom and there was no sauce or cheese, so the toppings just fell off. It was also very greasy…even though it had sausage, it shouldn’t be swimming in grease. I decided to give them another try, so my next one was a chicken bbq…with no pineapple or green pepper, but I added beans to it on my online order. It’s supposed to have bbq sauce on it ..but once again…no sauce! And no beans. It was dry , and tasteless and had burned edges. Both of these orders were picked up, so I didn’t get a chance to check them there. I am very disappointed in Dennys. I don’t allow myself a pizza very often but when I do, it should be more flavorful than the box it came in. Update..I called and spoke with a very nice gal who said that there was a misunderstanding about my order, and they made it right.so kudos to her !!!!! I’m now adding...
