Unfortunately, we had quite a negative experience working with Coral Gables Country Club as our wedding venue. The space itself is beautiful and that’s what had compelled us to book them. We had our ceremony outside in Granada Garden under the banyan tree and our reception in the Grand Ballroom in November of 2021. We had opted for outside catering as it was an Indian wedding (with Indian cuisine) and we did not like nor could afford their in-house catering option.
After we booked, they were often poor at responding to our subsequent inquiries while we were planning. It was not unusual for us to send them 2-3 emails over the span of a few weeks before we heard back from them. The staff we dealt with appeared inexperienced and often provided contradicting responses to questions we had.
Services that we thought were obviously included (e.g. serving staff, setting of silverware) were not, even though they had told us they would be. Our day-of-event coordinator who has been in the industry for years was also shocked by this. They demonstrated little personal responsibility or advocacy for the client. We constantly felt on our own without any help from them; they honestly felt like obstacles and were a large source of stress during our year of planning.
There were continuous instances where I would ask myself "What are we paying for?" They were overpriced and required us to book many services on our own that are typically provided by the venue. In some ways, the latter may have been for the best. The only country club staff that was present at the wedding were two bartenders and restroom attendants. We were told by more than one guest that the bartenders were unprofessional and quite rude to them during the wedding. In addition, our caterer later told us it was difficult working with the country club and that there was no representative readily present for any questions that came up when they used the kitchen during the event (even though the country club had told us there would be).
Although it was an awesome and beautiful wedding, it was in spite of the venue management -- not because of it. We were in the position where we had more than one wedding event (as is commonly the case with Indian weddings) and were working with more than one venue simultaneously while planning. We had completely opposite experiences of how it should and should not be to work with a wedding venue. Unfortunately, this was the...
Read moreWe booked Coral Gables Country Club for our wedding cocktail hour and reception. Our event took place in the Main Ballroom (250 guests). Every aspect was absolutely perfect and beautiful and honestly needs very little decoration because the venue itself is completely breath taking.
A huge asset to the club is the wedding coordinator—Lissette Hernandez. She always remained professional, organized and replies to your emails/phone calls/texts almost immediately! She made us feel completely comfortable and confident that all of the details we planned at the venue would be taken care of. She made sure her staff was working well and in harmony with all the vendors, making it stress free. Words cannot really express how great she was to work with and we owe a lot to her!
The food and service was absolutely fabulous. During the reception David was exceptionally attentive to the groom and I—he treated us like royalty, always making sure we had a drink in hand! At our tasting we even met with Executive Chef, Chef Richard, who totally exceeded our expectations. Food was delicious! Coral Gables Country Club was very accommodating and offered variations to the menu and requests for different alcoholic beverages to meet our needs.
Thank you to Coral Gables Country Club and staff for making our wedding a...
Read moreI am basing the review on my experience, today Sunday around 2:30 pm. The inside of the restaurant was empty , I ordered a latte and a salad. At 30 minutes I had to get up to ask for my coffee . They started making the coffee then, I had to get up again, to ask for the coffee, 10 minutes later. They wanted me to take it to the table, but it was made with the wrong milk. I asked for the manager so I could explain that I tip and pay for service, he answered, no you have to take it yourself... I had no coffee yet and I was walking back to the table when I decided that there are a lot of restaurants out there, that will take me gladly today and make me feel welcome. I asked for my money back, and it took this 2 month old manager 30 minutes to give me back my money. He didn't know how to use the cashier. Too bad Liberty has revamped their menu and added wine and tapas, but it makes no monetary sense when you hire a bad manager that has no idea what customer service is and has trouble getting experienced workers to work for him. I left for the Cellar Club Bar at the Biltmore , where I was greeted with open arms and immediate service with smiles and caring. I was happy to order my martini and eggs, etc. They have a new menu that is not brunch on Sunday,...
