Go out of your way to visit Dylan's Dairy. The "Dairy" name is tied to Dylan's wish (see below) and it serves home-made ice cream, but Dylan's Dairy more like an informal, homey artisan cafe. The food and service are outstanding and it's very reasonably priced. We had the Bistro Burger which was a half-pound of beef, two slices of Nueske's bacon, a tomato slice, leaf lettuce and a splash of bistro sauce which gave it a little kick. Top-notch!
Owner Linda was experimenting with a new flatbread and she shared two squares which featured fresh tomatoes and a delicious assortment of toppings from her garden. It was a real winner and another reason to visit immediately while the toppings are in season. For dessert, we had the strawberry rhubarb pie with a generous scoop of ice cream. Delish!
We also visited with Linda who shared the touching origins story of the Dairy which is a chapter in her nephew Dylan's wish before he passed away from leukemia. Linda shared descriptions of several of her specials like pan-seared pork chops with turnip puree.
We were disappointed we were leaving Brunet Island State Park the next morning and couldn't go back for dinner. Visit now before it closes for the season...
Read moreWe've seen the signs for this place all over Cornell for about a year and were a bit skeptical at first of this small town restaurant. Decided to give them a try after getting our truck unstuck. Boy, were we in for a good meal. Sat down and order their appetizer combo pick 3 for 22$. We had cheese curds, chicken tenders, and their deep-fried mushrooms. Cheese curds were nice and airy not greasy at all, mushrooms I was expecting half a dozen little ones for 14$ nope 2 HUGE mushrooms, like big enough I had to cut them up to eat them, and the chicken tenders were nice and tender. Had some of their ice cream for dessert, my mother had a hot fudge sundae with their amaretto chunk ice cream, which looked amazing. I had 3 scoops of ice cream. I enjoyed the amaretto chunk, the black cherry, and the firework flavors. Black cherry had a deep, deep, cherry flavor and bits of cherry in it. The firework had pop rocks in it, and it was ok, I didn't not like it, and I'd have it again, but with bad teeth, the pop rocks were hard to eat. Overall, I would definitely return to Dylans Dairy for the food and people. I'm glad I gave this...
Read moreI used to love coming here, but when I stopped in last year, noticed there was significantly moldy cheese in the display. I quietly alerted staff, one of the workers was sweet about it, grabbed it right away and apologized. The owner (or manager) was super rude. She grabbed it out of the workers hands, scoffed and started loudly talking about how "the mold showed how well aged the cheese was" (It wasn't a cheese that should have mold) and she proceeded to cut the mold off with the meat slicer and rewrapped it to put back in the display. My brother and I were horrified and ever since then I refuse to stop in again.
In response to Dylan's Dairy- I intended on writing a review shortly after, but life happened (and I don't love writing negative reviews either). You're business came up recently in conversation and I decided the review was still warranted. Considering it was management/owner that were rude and unsanitary, I don't intend on returning...
