While at a conference, I had to find a place for lunch. Unfortunately, the Loews Resort is about 4-5 miles away from the nearest restaurant. That meant I’d have to eat onsite, which gave me pause due to higher prices often found at hotels.

I was planning to eat at the bar in the lobby, and when I asked about dining options, the bartender mentioned La Cantina. She handed me a menu and said the fish tacos are really good, but get them grilled instead of fried as listed on the menu.

I walked down to the pool since the restaurant sits right in the middle of that area. There were several seats up at the bar and plenty of tables around the pool.

Two tacos were $16 and three were $20, which I thought was a decent price considering this was a resort property. I placed my order at the bar, 2 grilled fish tacos and 1 carne asada. The lady who took my order said it would be 20 minutes and handed me a pager. It started raining, and unfortunately, the only covered seating was at the bar. It was full, so I found some covered space to stand on the opposite side of the building.

My food was ready in about 5 minutes. It had stopped raining already, but the chairs were soaked. I decided to take it inside and went to the bar area to eat.

The steak taco was good, but those fish tacos were amazing. (The photo shows where one of those tacos sat before I thought about taking a picture.) The ingredients were wonderful, especially the sauces. I would highly recommend them!

So if you’re at this resort and are looking for something to try, check out the tacos. I was able to talk to the chef, and the menu changes seasonally, some you might have different options, including a Brussel sprout taco in the summer months.

NOTE: The menu on the website does not match the menu I looked at. For example, the taco prices are higher now than what online shows, and the taco options are...

Medicare at Best did served with essentially zero service. Ate here for lunch while we waited for it room to by ready D it was a mess. First of all it to 20 minutes for someone to come over and bring menus and start our orders. Food took forever and was listless when it got to us. I ordered selection of their chicken steak and carnitas tacos. Amazingly none of them have any flavor whatsoever. We had some friends join us after 20 minutes and it took an additional 30 minutes for someone after that to come check in on us so that we could get them some food ordered. Unless you're absolutely stuck at the pool and have to eat at this place go...
