Maybe I hit them on a bad day or something. I got there shortly after opening and ordered pork chop suey, pork fried rice, almond fried chicken, and curry chicken. And it came with hot and sour soup. First the soup was so thick that it was more like gravy so I put that aside. I went for the almond fried chicken which was obviously not cooked fresh that morning must have been left over from the night before and was drying out and getting very hard and chewy. Also the gravy didn't taste anything like almond fried chicken gravy that I remember, So I threw all that away. My pork chop suey was definitely edible although it was only mediocre and very very salty. Also it pretty much only had bean sprouts and celery as far as vegetables go. I asked them if they could put in snow peas which the waitress asked the cook and said he would be able to, but they somehow didn't end up in there. My daughter got the pork fried rice and said that it was just so so, I didn't try it so I can't say. She also got the curry chicken which was actually pretty good I tried it as well and I thought it was pretty good, it was definitely way better than anything else that we got. Bottom line is their food is NOT fresh. We were served food from the day before without a doubt. The rice also was not cooked fresh that morning it came in clumps with hard kernels mixed in. I will never eat there again. It was so bad that even though the place has fairly good reviews (not sure how that's possible) and a high rating, and it's also possible that we just hit them on a bad day, there's no excuse for serving old food from the day before! If I wanted leftovers I could have gone to...
Read moreI say this place was nice but not great. This is because there was some things that were wrong. One of the first things that came to me that was wrong was that only half of the order was taken to my table. Ordered burger & fries as well as Chicken Curry. At first the only thing that came out was the burger & fries. Would have been no problem had my roommate and I had the same food. It was almost a 15 minute difference between when he got his food and mine. The next thing I noticed was that the Chicken Curry that I got had mushrooms in it. In all my travels and being able to have authentic Chicken Curry, I've never had mushrooms in it. There should be no mushrooms in a Curry dish. The 3rd thing I noticed was that the heat level of the curry was weak at best. The authentic curries that I have had, even the mild had a bit of a kick to it. This curry had no rel kick to it. The next I noticed that service was slower than I would have liked. Finally, the refills, my roommate and I got refills on our drinks and his was wrong. He ordered a Dr. Pepper and got back a 7up. He doesn't doesn't drink that sort of soda. Honestly the best part of my meal was the fortune cookie...
Read moreThe plate I ordered was good but nothing to go crazy over. It included pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken plus almond fried chicken. Both dishes of chicken were a bit dry and could have had more sauce/gravy. The BBQ'd pork and egg flour soup was phenomenal and easily the best I have had in years. I would happily go back for another dining experience with friends/family. The atmosphere and customer service was wonderful. Our server was fast, efficient and very kind. It has a very calming, laid back feel to it. It's not a huge restaurant by any means but is big enough to dine in large groups. There is a bar also but it was closed by the time we came in on a Sunday night. Pricing of items was actually surprising; my food along with a fountain drink and a few items to take back home for my dad totalled under 30$. I would recommend this place to others and also come back again without hesitation. If you haven't tried this place you should; just ask for extra sauce for items such as S&S chicken. ;) Thank you Hong...
