Bidwell Tavern — Restaurant in Coventry

I know that BT is known for their wings but there's so much more on the menu to try. Get the wings if you have to. Tonight I tried the balsamic steak flatbread and requested extra meat. I am, after all, a carnivore.

Flatbread was nice and light and thin, as it should be. There was meat in every bite, thank you. And enough cheese to cover the toppings but not drown out the lovely meaty flavor.

My husband had the Bidwell seafood menu offering. Chock full of shrimp, scallops, real lobster, it was divine. And the pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente. I enjoyed trying it with my wandering fork.

I was surprised by the cole slaw since it tasted like it had horseradish or something spicy like that in it. I really liked it, and I usually don't care for cole slaw. I liked the purple cabbage as well as the green in there, adding color and the creamy sauce, too.

The fries were thick cut and not greasy, thank you. My friend who had another menu item didn't share. Likely because he wanted it all to himself. :)

We shared a lemon raspberry cheesecake. I could've eaten the whole thing by myself, mind you. Haven't had a graham cracker crust done like that in a long time. It was really good, not too crumbly but not too packed in. I'm glad we tried the dessert.

Sadly, I was too busy eating to take any photos which is a fail on my part. I arrived hungry and left satisfied. The bill was fair and I am grateful for this iconic place that serves the public so well.

Oh yeah, our server was really great. She gave us space and time to look at the menu, filled our glasses without being intrusive and was gracious to take care of our needs with good taste.

I don't eat here very often but I should. Glad to recommend the BT to people...

Had a wonderful lunch with my family this afternoon. I haven’t been here in over a decade. They are famous for their delicious wings.

You can sit yourself upon arrival in the bar area. Jessie was our server and she was great.

We started with the garlic pepper dry rub wings with hot buffalo sauce and ranch on the side. They were seasoned perfectly with the garlic pepper rub. Crispy outside and moist and cooked inside. It honestly didn’t need any sauce but my guys love dipping. The mozzarella sticks were lightly battered and crispy. The cheese pull was great. The mozzarella sticks were served with delicious marina sauce.

The shrimp taco was mediocre. The shrimps were on the smaller side and heavily battered. It was served in a soft flour tortilla, cut romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onions and on their delicious coleslaw. It came with a side of tartar sauce which was tasty. The coleslaw definitely saved this dish. I wouldn’t order it again.

The tuna melt with cheese and tomato on rye bread was phenomenal! I opted for the coleslaw instead of fries and I’m so glad. The coleslaw is lightly tossed in a mayo base but very refreshing. It has a nice bite to it. I would definitely order this again and would love to try other sandwiches.

The cheeseburger was okay. Not the worst and not the best. Cooked medium as requested and their French fries are delicious.

Casual tavern ambiance. A bit loud because of the bar but they also have patio dining and a restaurant area in the back.

I would definitely return to try...

What a disappointing experience we had today at the bidwell tavern. I think our server just forgot that we were her table. We ordered some of their famous wings for an appetizer, the reason we went there tbh, and after a long wait we asked another server if she would check on them for us and she brought them out right away. They were not fresh and had obviously been sitting for a while, but they were still delicious even though they were cold. I ordered a beer when we finished our wings and I did not get it. Then again, we waited a long time for our dinner, and had to ask our server to check on it for us. She went into the kitchen and returned right away with our food. She lied to us and said that she was, “keeping an eye out for it”, suggesting that the kitchen had just finished making it. That was not the case, because once again, the food was not fresh. I then asked about my beer and she apologized and brought it to me right away. It has obviously been sitting for a while. After we finished eating we sat for a while with dirty plates in front of us before we finally were able to get her attention by interrupting a very long conversation she was having with the other servers. It's a shame because money is tight and we don't go out to eat very often and we just wanted a good dinner. If the server had just paid attention to us, it would have been a good experience as the food would have been great if it was fresh. Too often we are finding that servers just don't care like...
