The food: incredibly fresh, literally saw a car unloading fresh leafy greens while parking. We were a party of 6, so our food choices ran the gamut, we ordered:
Signature Chilaquiles: we ordered two, one was ridiculously spicy, the other wasn't, but the flavor was on point for both. 4/5
Mediterranean Steak Kabob Plate đą: Everyone loved this plate, but interestingly enough, the rice was the star, although the meat was delish. 5/5
Carnitas Benny: My friend who ordered this said it was great and she'd definitely recommend. It looked amazing when it came out 5/5
Steak and Eggs đ„©đł: I ordered this, it was fresh and cooked ok. I asked for mid-rare, but bc the steak is pretty thin, it's hard to gage temperature which meant some parts of my Steak were a bit more done than others. The potatoes also needed to be cooked a bit more as they were still a bit tough to get through. I also had to add a bit more salt to my steak, but I'll chalk that up to personal preference. The green sauce made a world of difference. 3.5/5
Charm Dutch Baby đ„: rave reviews, everyone loved it like bread pudding for breakfast. 5/5
Kids Pancake Breakfast: Plain pancake and eggs, perfect for a kid's meal 5/5
Fresas con Crema Waffle đđ§: very tasty, delicate cinnamon flavor with a nice chew, reminded us of a churro. The Strawberries were fresh and the condensed milk drizzle was light, I wished there was a bit more. 4/5
Garlic Fries đ : We COULD NOT stop eating these! The best things are often the most simple. Fresh garlic and herbs and golden deep-fried potatoes are easily perfection, but the green sauce that they're served with takes it to a whole other level đ« 5/5
Horchata Latte âïž: The table loved this, it was a bit bland to me, but I'm a sugar head so đ€·ââïž 4.5/5
Hibiscus Tea đș: Very light and refreshing. Not too sweet 5/5
Cons:
The prices are a bit all over the place imo. Ex: the waffle with strawberries is only 50 cents cheaper than the chicken and waffles meal. This might be due to the market availability and shelf life of strawberries, but idk đ€·ââïž I payed 60 bucks for the Steak and Eggs, Waffle, Hibiscus Tea, and included gratuity. Definitely not your everyday spot, but a nice Sunday, Fun Day splurge
The Parking: Unfortunately, the parking sucks. They will tow you if you are parked in front of another business so be mindful of that. Sage shares the parking with a few other entities: Laundromat, 711, and electric charging stations. There's street parking available.
Atmosphere: This place is tinyyy. They've added a lot of natural elements in the form of greenery, but inside is very tight. We sat on what I would describe as their outdoor patio and it was nice. Inside was a different vibe to me, it felt a bit cramped and the kitchen bleeds out into the dining area a bit imo.
Wait Time: As a larger than average party, it was a bit hard to accommodate us due to the fact that Sage is a bit limited on seating. We had to wait for about an hour to be seated.
Overall: Sage is truly a whole in the wall gem and I would definitely recommend if you are into fresh, bold flavors as well as unique delicacies. Everything was made fresh to order and the wait for food was...
Read moreI feel so sad to write this review because I love this place so much and the food is absolutely AMAZING! But todayâs service was horrific. We came in at 1:20pm on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. The waitress took our order immediately and my 9 year old was starving so I asked her to put the order in for my daughters order of steak. It came out in less than 10 minutes, amazing! It looked (and tasted) soooo good! Anyway, around 1:40pm, my husband ordered the chilaquiles with over easy eggs and well done pulled pork, and I ordered the Dutch Baby. I understand the Dutch Baby takes 15 minutes to bake according to the menu and the waitress also let us know this. I agreed that I was totally fine with this! The chilaquiles came out pretty quick (less than 10 minutes), but they forgot the pulled pork. I tried to flag multiple waitresses down but they were just SO busy closing the store (wiping down the coffee machines, cleaning the floors, etc) Mind you, they close at 2:30pm and customers are still eating. NOT ONCE, not once did our waitress check up on us, not a glance, nothing. We tried flagging her down 5-6 times, but we saw that she even changed out of her uniform already and was very busy wiping down the coffee machine then cleaning the bathroom. Like I understand itâs Saturday and youâre trying to get out and party, but girl, youâre still waiting a table, and itâs barely 1:45pm!!! Finally after about 15 minutes, I made my husband get up from his seat across the room so he can ask the waitress for the pulled pork. After he did so, it came out immediately within 5 minutes. So Iâm sitting there still waiting for my Dutch Baby while watching my daughter eat her steak and my husband eat his chilaquiles! I thought, Iâm going t give the kitchen more time to cook the Dutch Baby. I thought, maybe the first one got overcooked? So after 30 minutes, I couldnât wait any longer, now it was my turn to get up out of my seat and approach our waitress LOL because not a single waitress (there was 3) did NOT come to check on us, nevertheless, they never even LOOKED AT US once. I knew my waitress was already ready to book it, but damn, now the other 2 waitresses are going to the same party or what? đđđMy husbandâs back was twisted for a long time trying to get their attention, and now he got a backache lmao. Itâs 2:15pm and they FINALLY brought the Dutch Baby 35 minutes after placing order. At this point, my husband and daughters plate were cleaned up and I havenât had anything to eat yet lol. Because our waitress is in such a hurry, I KNOW that she forgot to give the kitchen our pulled pork order or the Dutch Baby order. I want to assume that the Dutch Baby takes 15 minutes to make because I think for safety purposes, they might be letting it cool down a bit. When I finally received it , I almost got a third-degree burn!!! Guess what, they barely took it out the oven!!! Again, no warning from the waitress that it was hot. Itâs so bittersweet, I love the food so much, but that was the worst service Iâve ever had in my life. Manager, please please please reinforce the importance of customer service skills to...
Read moreAgainst all precautions on Yelp, on how slow service was, I had to try this place myself, as their food pictures online look delicious. Parking is tight, but we got lucky and got one on their lot. I guess there's also street parking. We (2 of us) arrived at 11:57am after getting my car serviced at Toyota. We were seated rather quickly which was a good sign. There was a small rush, but not enough to have to wait to be seated. Can't say much about the food. It never arrived, so this review is based on just waiting to get a menu, to order drinks, to order food, and to get my food. Chaos everywhere. The hostess is the cashier, the waitress, the server, and the busser. There were 2 other older woman (relatives) who buss the tables and bring out food. From what I gather, no one is assigned to any table, which makes it hard to ask for refills or anything needed. Not alot of glove wearing or handwashing going on, especially since the server/waitress is all over the place. The cook has no sense of urgency or multi tasking skills. There was 2 of them. One who was on the grill and the other one was just there for moral support, because physically he was doing nothing to help him, although he did refill a few beverages. Most dishes coming out of the kitchen were practically one at a time. There was a couple sitting next to us, and the young lady received her order of chilaquilles, and I honestly thought they were sharing, but half ways through her meal, they brought out the guys chorizo skillet. Both plates looked delicious but sadly, they ate them at different times. There was a 10-15 minute difference. We ended up ordering 1 Chorizo Skillet, and a plate of Porkchops, with 2 over EZ Eggs, & Potatoes. Simple order, no modifications. We observed a few people come in, and a few people leave. We observed the decor and of course their customer service and the speed of the cook. Although the place is hip and cool looking, it lacks the friendly & welcoming side. 2 girls got there a couple of minutes after we did, and they got their order faster than ours. We asked the server and she said pork chops take longer to cook. What the cook neglected to do, was put the pork chops on the grill once he saw our order vs waiting to get to our ticket to place the pork chops on the grill. A piece of pork doesn't take 30 mins to cook. Finally at 12:40, I waived the server down and asked to just charge our beverages (2 canned sodas) which she was nice to waive the charge. Once we got up to leave, she said your order is ready. Lot's of things to say, but I was upset already, so I just smiled and walked away. We as customers deserve better than this and I will...
