Columbia Street Seafood LLC — Restaurant in Covington

I am not the person to post a negative review, but I felt as though I needed to warn future customers. This has been our go-to place for seafood for years, but unfortunately, we will never return. I called to speak to the manager regarding the quality of the lump crab meat that we purchased yesterday. The product that we purchased was NOT lump crab meat. I don’t know the official name of crab meat that is not “lump” but it was shredded- very little taste. We were thought we thought we were purchasing a quality product and I thought for $38 we would get LUMP crab meat! My husband and I discussed it and I decided that I would call today to let them know that we were very disappointed and 100% dissatisfied. When the manager offered no explanation or opportunity to acknowledge an issue, I asked for a partial refund or a credit. She then hung up on me! Not only was the “crab meat” substandard, but the attitude of the manager was despicable. I’m so sorry to post this but unfortunately, we will never return to this...

Food is fine. However, be aware that when paying for fried seafood by the pound, they admittedly do not weigh it. When we called to make them aware that the seafood ordered was shorted (We began the conversation with the fact that we didn't want anything. Just wanted them to be aware.) and underweight the manager offered no excuse other than they do not weigh cooked seafood. It is packed by slice of fish even though it is advertised and priced by weight. Her exact words were 8 pieces of catfish is "our" pound. Basically we paid for a certain amount of catfish and were not given the full amount. Manager offered no apologies and was a little defensive offering nothing but excuses such as they don't weigh it or that the food is actually less weight after cooked and their pound is 8 pieces of catfish no matter what. This was the worst experience I have ever had in over 40 years of purchasing seafood. I bought a half gallon of raw oysters to cook a dish for a client. After preparing the dish I noticed it tasted not so good. I then tried one raw and was disgusted. I then called and explained and the guy who I spoke with agreed to take them back and give me credit. My wife took them back and when she got there (I assume the owner) she was told they would not give us credit because we had used half of them. (well of course I cooked them). He then said oysters were not good this time of the year! I explained to him that I would never treat a customer in the manner he did. He was rude and behaved like an idiot towards my wife. I would never do business with them again and urge anyone not to as well. It does not deserve one star. One more thing...the trout I saw in his window...
