Another stop on the RI Food Fights TacoMania! I ventured here while in the area on errands.
Pulling up to the shop, it reminds me of what I remember of Mexico: Bright colors, a sense of good hospitality and delicious smells.
Inside, the bright colors continue. Classic mariachi plays softly in the background and you get the feeling you should relax, kick back, stay awhile. You have the option to take it to go, but I took at seat at the communal table against the wall instead.
The tacos came out quickly, with plenty of lime and a roasted tomatillo sauce. I went with the cashier's recommendation of carnitas tacos. Warm corn tortillas, crispy but juicy braised pork, with all the traditional toppings. One bite and I was in heaven. If you are worried about spicy, the taco itself is flavorful but not spicy. The roasted tomatillo sauce is where the heat is. Not too much, a nice mild punch of heat. You can taste the char of the roast, enhancing the essence of the fruit with a richness that was lovely paired with the pork.
