Big Doug’s BBQ — Restaurant in Creede

This open air BBQ stand was closed this year when we went to Creede, but last year we ate there and it was great. I hope he opens again soon. The cheesesteak sandwich and pulled pork were among the best my son and I have ever had, and his sauce is very unique and tasty. It is fun to eat out in his yard on the picnic tables behind the stand. Well worth a stop if he is open.

Update 6.8.23: Once again we were disappointed that Big Doug's was closed when we arrived about 11 on Wed. June 7. It is kind of hard to tell when he is open. His quality is great, and we know he lives in Creede not far from his Q shack. But he seems to keep lesser than banker's hours. Hoping he will be open next year...

We have eaten here three days in a row! Pulled pork, and ribs on day one. Brisket bahn mi and pulled pork cheese steak on days two and three. The food is EXCEPTIONAL!!! The combination of tender, tasty brisket with cucumber, jalapeno, carrot and siracha is incredible on the bahn mi. The cheese steak with pulled pork, onion, jalapeno, cheese, mayo is total comfort food. My husband and I can't decide while sandwich we like more, so we split them both and share. When I say this is BBQ is amazing, it is literally top two of my life. I lived in the Carolinas for 20 years and nothing compares to Big Doug's Texas BBQ....

I'll be honest - I'm not normally a huge BBQ fan... but my husband is so I went along for the ride. Best bahn mi I have EVER eaten, and I lived in Chicago's Vietnamese neighborhood for years (so I've eaten a lot of bahn mi :) All 6 people in the family raved about their selections (the 1/2 chicken, chopped beef sandwich, brisket plate, cheesesteak sandwich, etc). The charro beans were also amazing! Lastly, we got to chat with Big Doug himself, who was absolutely delightful and clearly loves what he does - and that really comes through...
