I used to frequent here all the time and bring visiting colleagues here for meals until I repeatedly noticed the same problem. It took awhile for things to add up but in retrospect the facts are as follows: I being Latina, I always received great food, the portions were always generous and the people always friendly and eager to help. When I would show up with some other Latin American colleagues they experienced the same great outcome. HOWEVER, time and time again when I would bring colleagues that were Caucasian, or with my African American fiancé and his family the outcome was noticeably different each of those times. I found it odd that even if I ordered the same dish mine always came out to me first and then when my guests got their plates the portions on their plates were much skimpier, and it was really odd how employees from the back would come out and watch the people I was dining with as they ate their food. Really odd the way they peered and eagerly watched. It added up after the 3rd occurrence when for the third time everyone in my party BUT MYSELF got sick afterwards. Always complaining of a couple days worth of horrible symptoms relating to their meals here. Different guests every time got ILL, and only if they were Caucasian or African American. I show up with my Mother or Sister or any Latin American colleagues the food and service was great and no one got sick... So My fiance and I conducted an experiment where we ordered food over the phone for pick up under my Latin last name, I was already inside with my African American Fiancée and his Caucasian co-worker and ordered the same food to the table. Mine arrived first and looked great, theirs arrived skimpy and thrown together, the staff looked disappointed as they came out to watch my folks eat their presumably compromised food and we got up, went to the front picking up the togo order I had ordered by phone while sitting there and compared the dishes to what they brought to the table for my fiance and his friend. It was very disturbing, disheartening and down right despicable. There was a night and day difference in the togo order quality from the garbage they served my fiancée and his friend. They were spared from getting sick THIS TIME because we knew better ESPECIALLY AFTER COMPARING. This is horrible practice and it is only a matter of time before they are fully exposed.. I encourage you if you have eaten here and are of Caucasian or African American descent and gotten an upset stomach and a funky plate to NOT SEE IT AS COINCIDENCE. I can say with certainty it was done on purpose and they probably got a sick thrill out of watching you chew it down, knowing how they compromised the quality purposefully.. I urge you to speak out. Leave a review, tell your friends. Hold places like this accountable. I am mind blown over these findings. Bringing professionals in here on business and then getting abused in this manner is wrong and I know my handful of groups cannot be alone. The word to the wise is right here folks. Sounds crazy, it is.. Please do yourself a favor and heed my warning and stay away from this place. I will never return and will never waste an opportunity to share my...
Read moreWe LOVE Los Ranchos. The only way I could move to a small town was if I knew there was a good Mexican food restaurant. Thankfully, Los Ranchos is that for my family & I. We especially love their salsa. Not just because it tastes delicious but also because it’s warm. Warm salsa warms my heart!! Lol I do have 1 complaint about their to-go policy, which is why I gave them 4 stars (if this hadn’t happened, they would get 5 stars) however my family & I felt very ripped off in this instance. When my mom ordered 4 meals, they were only willing to give her 1 tiny bag of chips & 1 small cup of salsa. When my mom asked how that was right, considering she just spent over $50 on meals & those chips were barely enough for 1 person, the employee said they would have to charge to give her more chips & my mom (who never has issues with people) said the employee was very rude about it & wouldn’t budge so she ended up having to pay for extra chips & salsa. We have never had a problem like that & every restaurant we have ordered that much food from is always more than happy to give us ample chips & salsa. Our thing is, we would get as many refills as we wanted (for FREE) if we ate in-house, so why not be more generous for those going home with their food? That was disappointing & I hope they change that policy. My mom & dad have decided to never eat there again. So, just a heads up for those ordering to-go. You may wanna go somewhere else if you don’t want to pay extra for barely any...
Read moreThis is the 2nd time we have eaten there post-COVID. The 1st time, we had the same great service. The 2nd time, not so much. The restaurant was not very busy, maybe 6 other tables were occupied around 4:15 pm. We saw the waiter, the lady behind the cash register and the girl who serves your drinks/chips/salsa. Two out of three were standing at the bar watching TV. We normally are seated within a couple of minutes, but we waited so long that we were about to walk out and eat elsewhere. The waiter finally motioned us over to a booth. He took our drink order and left. After our drinks were brought it was another 10-15 minutes before the chips/salsa arrived. When we were ready to order the waiter totally ignored us. I literally had to flag him down so we could place our order.
I did notice a State Trooper walk in after us and he received the red carpet treatment. Nothing against the police force, but I think all customers should receive the same service.
The food was great as usual & this is the only place we go for Mexican food! Not sure if they were having an "off" day, but the staff were very disconnected on this particular day and the service was in the toilet. Maybe it's time for us to try the other two Mexican food...
