My husband and I recently visited Boston and Middletown, CT. We stayed in Cromwell, CT. We had excellent dinners at really wonderful restaurants in Boston, New Haven and Middletown, but the highlight of the trip was breakfast at Mitchell's on Main. We went there first on a Saturday. It was busy, packed with people, all of whom seemed to one another and were well known to the staff. I had the Italian Garbage Plate. With a name like that, how could I resist: fried potatoes with sausage, onions and red pepper, topped with melted cheese and a couple of poached eggs. My husband had Eggs Oscar - which is essentially Eggs Benedict with lobster and asparagus. The breakfast was so good, we went back the next day and that was when the most startling thing happened. The hostess showed us to our seat and said, "One regular coffee and one decaf, right?" After one visit, in a crowded restaurant, she remembered. I ordered poached eggs and the server asked, "On the toast or in a cup?" I have never been asked that before and have often had to fish the poached eggs out of a little pool of cooling water in a cup. My husband had a tuna melt (yes it is a pretty big menu) and said it was the best he ever had. Also, the street perpendicular to Main leads down to the river and a beautiful little park - a nice walk to work up your appetite. All in all a wonderful experience.

I’ve been going to Mitchell’s On Main in Cromwell for many years now. It’s an intimate atmosphere because there are so many regulars there you could easily get in a conversation with one of them. The service is great because they have fast, efficient and friendly servers. I think the food is always top notch. I’m always pleased with my meal. The cooks never seem to get a moments rest, always on the move, making those orders to perfection. The owner Tom is busy serving meals or helping cook. And then there’s the dishwasher who makes a rare. appearance when he brings out the clean dishes, cups, and silverware. Thanks to all of you hard workers. Each of you is why those regulars are regulars and why a first time customer sometimes becomes a regular. My uncle Jim and I love eating there. Tom, you have a great team

My friend and I stopped here on 12/16/2021. First-time we ate at this location. Much better. Felt welcomed, home feel vibe, It's smelled homemade with bacon in the air. Cute very inviting. Coffee was good. The food was awesome and perfect to the eyes as it tasted! Saw this place on the Breakfast places on Wfsb Channel 3, as it made us delighted to try. We used to go to the location in Rocky Hill years ago had lot of bad experiences but this was worth the added drive. Will be back .

Haven’t had the time to post this review but I think my experience was bad enough to share, so better late than never. My husband and I went to eat on Sunday and sat outside. We waited at least 15 minutes for someone to come out but no one did. When we went inside to let the host know she scoffed at us and rudely said she didn’t know what was going on. All we said was that we weren’t sure if anyone knew we were there and wanted to let them know......she chose to attack us rather than just helping us out. The man that ended up waiting on us was very compassionate about the situation but unfortunately this same rude host ended up being the one to deliver our food. Again, she was rude to us. Her “service” alone was enough for us to never return. I’m sure we aren’t the first people this has happened to considering how natural her...
