La Casita Taqueria & Refresqueria — Restaurant in Crosby

Their snow cones are great. Not a fan of their food. I tried a couple of different plates in the past and have not liked them enough to order again. I keep going back because my husband likes their snow cones. We were passing by today and noticed there was no line so we pulled into the drive thru thinking it wouldn’t take long (we know there’s ALWAYS a long wait). We ordered two snow cones and they asked us to pull forward while we waited. 15 minutes passed and I saw that the car behind me got their order and left. I went inside to ask for our order and the girl said they were working on it. I saw three people working in the back and another in the front cleaning. Don’t know why they take 15+ minutes to make two snow cones. Sadly every time we have gone, they always take this long. Such a shame their service is lacking. This is definitely the last...

This place is truly a hidden gem in Crosby. I passed by it many times before finally taking the time to try it. Let me tell you - it is 100% worth it! After recently returning from a trip to Mexico, I can tell you these tacos are truly about as close to authentic as you’re going to get without physically being in Mexico.

My favorite is their barbacoa (and they make their tortillas fresh - corn or flour)! I also thoroughly enjoyed their Mangonada! Which to be honest, I was a bit surprised at how much I liked it.

They have drive thru as well as a small inside and outside area. Staff has always been pleasant to me, and their prices are great! I believe one taco is $1.85.

If you sleep on this place that’s your fault. I’ve have tasted these flavors from California to Texas to Mexico City to Oaxaca to even South America. Trust me when I say this flavor is generations in the making. I met the tall friendly bearded young man running this establishment and he is sharing his mothers and grandmother’s recipes with all his heart. Be wary, lots of flavor and they know how to use their spices. I was in heaven. I could not believe one of the best “taco stands” (even though they offer so much more) was right in Crosby. If you are ready for flavor and authenticity, look no further. I imagine this young man running this spot will be on the cover of some Houston magazine very soon. I’m blown away.
