We have been eating here for many years and it's always a pleasant outing. The Christmas season gives one such a warm feeling and is a great experience. The food has always been very good and tasteful with a wide variety of foods. Healthy, home made soups, great salad bar.
great.
We recently returned to the State Park restaurant since Covid. -Aug. 2020.
We waited a long time for a server.
The coffee was not as fresh tasting as in the past.
The salads were minimal, as was the dressing.
The catfish was dry. I ordered catfish and roast beef, with the server returning to confirm my order, and still only got catfish.
Banana pudding was brought to our table, so obviously the only dessert available.
I realize Covid has had the park provide waiters and waitresses to serve the meal, which are not used to serving, with it normally being buffet style, but in the best interest of the restaurant's business, they need qualified servers to sustain a smooth and enjoyable eating experience, sustaining the food quality.
The price for lunch has gone up, my assumption to offset the increased cost of servers, but I feel they need to adjust to improve the overall experience and food quality.
The servers do not say what's available, they just ...sort of bring what you questionably order, and the soup was barely warm. It has become an overpriced place to eat for what one gets....very sad to say. It's been a...
Read moreProbably the rudest waitress I have ever encountered. We have had family reunions here for over 40 years and have always loved coming to this restaurant. We had reservations for 12 and the waitress asked if we all wanted to sit together, which is a ridiculous question for a party that had made reservations. She said she didn’t have a table that big. Who would think pushing a couple of tables together would be such a huge deal when a restaurant isn’t even halfway full. Especially after having reservations for a party of 12 for several months. She was determined to not give us good service . She gave one menu to someone who asked for it. Didn’t offer anyone else menus and never came back to ask what anyone wanted, so most of us got soup & salad. After she went around the table to ask what everyone got, we were charged for something we didn’t get. When we went to her to correct it all she could say was you didn’t tell me. Never an apology.. I know customer service is a thing of the past, but I would think in a non-chain restaurant that is located in a state park that customer service would matter and that it would be important to want the guests of the park to frequent the restaurant. Obviously that is...
Read moreOur family is moving to the area next summer and every so often, we enjoy coming to Crossville to visit. Crossville is very limited on restaurant options (usual fast food or chain restaurants). We were excited to have found this option. When we arrived, the hours were different from what was posted online and were closed. There was a sign posted on the door saying they’d open in an hour. It wasn’t a big deal, we took our kids to walk the trail, watch geese, the area is just so beautiful and peaceful. Once it opened, we were seated promptly. There is also outdoor seating, but it was unavailable due to a wedding reception. They had a buffet line but menu options were also available. Our server was kind, answered all of our questions and checked in on us often. The food was good; typical salad bar, but for $21 I wish there were more options for sides. I also did not care for their biscuits or rolls, they were dry and hard. There is also a gift shop inside that I wanted to visit but by the time we finished, my main concern was getting my 3 year old out of the restaurant since he was starting...
