First off.. upon entry into the restaurant, I was greeted by some very friendly young children, eager to have another customer. The waitress was very nice and smiling as well. The children took my drink order and asked if I wanted pita. I said "sure", with a smile. I ordered the Gyro Plate. A few minutes after I placed my order with the waitress, another young child came and asked if I wanted hummus. I obliged by saying yes, I'd like some. A short while later the young child brought me a small plate of hummus to go with the pita. Once my gyro arrived it also had a portion of hummus and a small salad. I wasn't aware that when the child offered hummus that I'd be charged an additional appetizer charge of $5.00 for the hummus she offered. I felt like that was sneaky, but I couldn't question a 5-6 year old little girl about this. When I inquired with the waitress about it, she just stated that yes, I had ordered the appetizer hummus also. So... I was just charged an extra $5.00 for no real good reason and no understanding of the misunderstanding with a child. The place seemed dirty. My cup of water looked as if it had not been washed at all. Once I entered the restroom, it had an extremely strong urine smell. The camode had no door for privacy, no lock on the entry door either. There was no soap at the sink, nor was there any means to dry my hands. I also noticed that I was charged an additional 4% of my bill for not paying with cash. I just felt like a restaurant experience should be much better. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I gave 3 stars because the gyro sandwich wasn't terrible. I wish these folks the best of luck...
ย ย ย Read moreVery disappointed in the overall taste of food and it is way overpriced! Appetizer Vegetable Mousakka- the eggplant could not be identified in the dish (nothing was identifiable, really) and the only flavor we tasted was cinnamon. Fattoush Salad- this simply looked like they purchased a bagged salad premix from WalMart, dumped it into the bowl and added a few pita pieces. The menu stated it is a salad with a bunch of vegetables, but the only vegetables were about ten pieces of red/yellow bell peppers. The dressing had no flavor. Fried Eggplant- The breeding was even and adhered to the eggplant, which was a good point. However, the tahini sauce and the eggplant were bland; there is no seasoning flavor in this dish. The Vegetarian Eggplant Royale is the only reason this place got one star. It had a lot of cheese, too much really, but overall it was very delicious! The sauce- oh my gosh, yumm! Spot on and well done! I definitely recommend this dish.
We called in the order and was told twenty minutes to pick up. It was actually about 40 (and there was no customers in the place when we arrived or when we left). We had a hard time finding the place because there was no sign on the front. There was a crawfish banner above the place- hmm.
But hey, maybe their drinks are good. We didnโt have one, but it seems that is what they are...
ย ย ย Read moreIf you are on your lunch break, don't take a chance making an order at this place. I decided to take a late lunch today and despite the fact that I had a cold gyro sandwich last time I tried ZEUS IN CROWLEY, I decided to give them another chance. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich at 2:12 PM. I was told that it would be ready in ~20 minutes. I thought that sounded like a long time for a sandwich but nonetheless, I arrived exactly at 2:32 PM-- 20 minutes exactly from when I placed the order. I was greeted with a locked door. I tried calling the restaurant, no answer. After waiting 20 minutes, I decided to give up on the sandwich and walked down the street to a regular place I go to, but they had just closed. So, unless you're down to take the chance that they decide to close before you pick up your order (even though their website says that they are open all day), don't order from this place unless you've got a back up option. Because you could just end up like me, with no lunch. Good luck to those brave...
