Golden Palace — Restaurant in Cumberland

To start, ordered at 5:10 pm and me and girl had not eaten anything all day. So possible could be a worst score but, was starving so might have tasted better because of that. Been thinking of ordering for past few years but, always went to Asia Grille. So to start, ordered boneless chicken combo, general tso combo, and beef teriyaki. The woman on phone said they would throw in crab Rangoon and 2 Cokes. Should of sent up a red flag right there. Got food 50 min later. No soda but no big deal it was suppose to be free any way. Tried boneless chicken and it was good. Crispy. Rice was a solid rubbery mass. Crab Rangoons tasted like cream cheese. No sweet or crab taste at all. Egg roll was ok, nothing great same goes for beef teriyaki. Although the general chickened smelled good but it was very rubbery and had weird texture and off taste. Like it had been reheated maybe. My girl only ate a few bites and couldn’t eat anymore. Also everything was at room temp. I don’t know if it was a cancelled order that had been sitting around or they took that long to get to me, but we live 5 minutes away? Disappointing First (and Likely Last) Visit

I wanted to support a local business and decided to try takeout from this restaurant for the first time. On a positive note, the woman working—who I believe is the owner and cook—was very kind and pleasant, which made the experience feel more personal.

Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The photos online were completely misleading—not only did the inside of the restaurant look nothing like the pictures, but the building itself was unclean and felt neglected. The food photos were also inaccurate, especially in terms of portion size and presentation.

I was given a pickup time, but my order wasn’t ready until 25 minutes after that, which would’ve been more understandable if the food had been worth the wait. Sadly, it wasn’t. The taste was bland, unbalanced, and frankly unpleasant—nothing like what I was expecting based on the online menu or typical standards.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I was genuinely disappointed and felt misled by the online presentation. I hope the owner takes some of this feedback to heart, because with some improvements in food quality, cleanliness, and transparency, this place could be...

Original order was from Feb 24 - I initially tried placing my order through ubereats but it was cancelled. I should have took that as a sign but I had a craving for Chinese food and the last time I ordered from GP the food was amazing, so I placed an order for delivery on their website. I couldn't believe what I received. I ordered beef lo mein, general tso's chicken, egg rolls and wonton soup. The lo mein was bone dry and tasteless, the chicken was sweet to the point of being sickening and the egg rolls were just bland. The only thing good was the soup and it came in a large, flat plastic container which was weird. Everything else came in Styrofoam containers instead of the takeout boxes they usually come in. They gave me free pork fried rice which was bland and barely had any pork or color to it. The food was awful! What happened to this place? I'm NEVER ordering from here again. I don't know what's going on but in the past few weeks I've had to write off both my favorite pizza and Chinese food places. It's sad, there's like no options left! Please do better!
