I came here with my daughter for the 1st time between December 2015-January 2016 because she lives and still lives close by. This year, Nov/Dec.2017, 3rd time I came for breakfast. On all occasions, (including that of 2015/2016), I noticed a judgmental and unfair treatment towards someone like me. During all times I have dined here, I have seen Caucasian female servers ONLY. I kept on coming to prove my theory wrong (that servers are RACISTS). I really gave this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. Each time I came, I was hoping to be treated the same way all servers treat their Caucasian customers. I was completely disappointed. Today, Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, close to 9:00 a.m., I walked in to get a table, I signaled to a server name Betsy M. that I wanted to sit anywhere I liked. She ushered me to the table SHE LIKED for me to sit. I kept mum about it and not made a big deal. After a few minutes, I noticed that when a Caucasian male customer walked in, Betsy "allowed" him to sit anywhere he preferred to sit, same section where I showed Betsy earlier where I preferred to sit. On 2 occasions I had breakfast at Kimmie's, (Betsy served me on both occasions) she was never friendly nor attentive and never once came back and refilled my coffee and never asked me if I had everything I needed, on these BOTH TIMES she waited on me. I had to call another server who was equally UNFRIENDLY. I have travelled quite a bit and a gourmet diner myself. I am a U.S. Citizen that has been all over Asia and other parts of the world. I do not look for a beautifully decorated restaurant but what I look for are: Friendly, Smiling Servers and the Quality of the food a restaurant serves, and most of all, a restaurant that is "blind to the color of ones skin". Reasonable Price counts but not an issue to me. They say do not judge the book by its cover. Betsy M. and the other Caucasian servers on duty on this date only made a 360 degree turn and gave me proper service and BECAME ALL SMILES AND FRIENDLY TO ME after I told one of the servers that I was doing a review of the restaurant. For all you know, owner/s of Kimmie's Restaurant CYPRESS, California, I could be a food blogger, a food critic for a famous food and restaurant magazine, or just a simple wealthy ASIAN WOMAN (with HISPANIC LOOKS) in disguise. Bottomline, we should not JUDGE ANY BOOK...
Read moreThe food was fine once it was cooked but the service was terrible. It was hard to get anyone's attention throughout the whole meal. My first California Eggs Benedict came out with clear, very raw eggs. They redid mine after gruffly asking if I wanted it to be remade without any apologies. When they dropped off my new plate it made us realize that my partners didn't even have the turkey on it as written on their menu. It was impossible to flag someone down to tell them while we sat there with empty coffee cups. When we finally pointed it out they just said they'd tell the kitchen. I get being understaffed on a busy weekend...tables around us were getting up to find to go boxes and trying to hunt down servers to pay the bill...but even when they dropped off our bill they made no mention of completely messing up our order or any apologies. When we asked if they could do anything about it she said well we already took $2 off because we just served you a different dish. Just a frustrating experience all around. Please staff more people, especially on busy shifts. This is not a place we plan to...
Read moreWent for the 1st time around 11 this morning 8/16 with my family. Sat down on the outside patio and waited a bit to be greeted. No one came so my sister went inside and asked for a menu. We waited a bit until both servers came out, one with silverware and the other just asked if we wanted anything to drink rudely. I was a little surprised because neither apologized for the wait but the person who took our order Emily was super rude. I hate to say that I felt discriminated because I'm latina. Obviously, I tried to brush it off because we went in to spend time with family. Only once Emily came to check on us and that's because we put our French Toast and Waffle on hold. I don't understand why they work as servers if they don't like to take care of guests. I guess they still don't understand that servers get tips because of their customer service. I'm going to take my hard earned money where it's appreciated. The only person who was sweet and helpful was Naomi . Owners or management have to remind staff that no guests means...
