Let's sing. Ahem. Oh where or where did my little .... No not that song. More like .... Ahem. Oh where oh where did I simply go wrong, to never have visit this place... Lalala.
People of the world I never new this place existed. It's been in the area for 25 years and I just was never alerted of it. Oh and I've been looking. I've been searching high and low for a new Mexican restaurant since covid closed down many of my go to spots for great Mexican food. Please understand I do not like the big corporate spots around town. I prefer the hidden gems with authenticity. This place I indeed consider that hidden gem. It's off the beaten path. Well, it's off my beating path, despite it being on a major road. I just never come this way.
Now to the food. It's a new spot for me so I didn't want to commit to just one full dinner. So I did a little sampling by trying multiple items a-la-cart. I tried the basics:
1 Fajita Beef Taco 1 Enchilada 1 Tamale 1 House Margarita
Let's start with the Rita. You do not need to upgrade this baby to premium. It's perfectly fine the way it comes. It's now my new favorite margarita spot in all of Cypress and Tomball. Period.
Beef Fajita. This is real beef baby. Not that cheap knock off low grade beef that feels like rubber. Nicely seasoned and prepared well. The fajitas alone are worth 5 stars.
Ground Beef Enchilada. Finally found my spot. Hands down the best in all of Cypress. I will exclusively come here now for my enchilada fix in Cypress.
Tamale. Y'all! Y'all. Y'all? I was tricked. They need to modify that menu. I ordered my tamale with zero sauce cause I wanted that authentic experience. What I got was a freaking chicken tamale. Blasphemy! When you see tamale on a menu you think traditional pork by default. No not here. They exclusively only have chicken tamales but the menu doesn't specify it. I did not like it at all. But I'm strict on tamales and I only want them in pork. Period.
With all that, I'm giving this place all 5 of them stars baby. I further ordered a Jack and Coke (with Mexican Coke of course) as well as their standard Old Fashion. Let's be clear. Their default Old Fashion is made with Woodford Bourbon. Did you hear me! I was floored because that's the absolute best way to make an Old Fashion and many bartenders do not know that. This bartender did and she made the bar menu herself. I forget her name but I did post her pic. She only works weekends so, I'm now heading there weekends only for them perfectly balanced old fashion.

Read moreI came here many times with family and friends and noticed that with the only plate I ordered which was the seafood fajitas never came with the amount of food that it did in the previous times we visited. Today July 18th of 2019, I came to visit this restaurant again, and decided to ask how much of a certain meat they served because I had came previous times and I was never served the same amount to which the server replied that it depended on the chef that was cooking on the day. He then offered to ask the manager to honor the amount of food for us as previous times and as I was going to the restroom to attend my child I heard the manager tell our server to tell us “no”. I realized then that I wasn’t comfortable eating at a place that doesn’t serve the same each time just because their “chef” feels like it. I have never came to a place that they serve you however they want, as much or as little as they wish and expect customers that are NOT first time customers be ok with it and not say anything. I will not be coming back to this restaurant . The food wasn’t delicious but the manager clearly doesn’t care about...
Read moreSo, my son decided to have a dinner party for his 9th bday. He got his usual, taco with double refried beans, only to trek at me when the food came, "Dad, they forgot my double beans. " -"Wow son, they sure did. " Called waiter. Waiter:"That is a double order of beans. " Me: "Well why does it look just like the single orders of all of his friends next to him?" Waiter: "Do you want to buy another order of beans?" Me: "No, I want the beans that I already paid for. "
Meanwhile, my son had cleaned his plate already.
Me:"Hey sir, just bring him the same thing he already ordered with double beans."
-MF brought out his food with a single serving of beans.
I probably don't have to explain to those of you still with testosterone somewhere in the family, ie- soldiers, athletes, cowboys, or anything that passes for a real, offroad type Texan, probably understand why this guy got yelled at, upsetting the whole dinner.
Worst $250 ever. I've never had a similar problem anywhere, especially Los Cucos, which has better food for...
