Déco Restaurant & Bar

Wow. Not sure how we've been coming here for years and somehow missed this place. It's a cool place. Has character. Fern was our waitress and was very nice. The salad was... perfect. Just the right amount to split (large), not super fancy, just a great garden salad. It was dressed lightly (really appreciated!). My wife and I split a burger and a chicken sandwich and both were excellent. The portions were very good, filling but not ridiculously large as seems to be the trend in some other places. The fries... not sure how to call the style.. thinly cut, perfectly fried... you'll be fighting over...

This place really wants to do a good job and is very welcoming, but they were severely understaffed when we went and that caused problems. There was only 1 waitress who was also the hostess, and she did an amazing job given the circumstances! However, we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our drinks and an hour and 15 minutes for our food. Our appertizers and mains came at the same time and some of the food was only lukewarm and slightly dried out. Deco is the bar and restaurant in Hostel Tevere. Under the former ownership it was great and now it's even better. I haven't eaten here yet, but the cocktails and the beer menu are exceptional. And it's always just so much fun to come here. To me this is the hidden gem of the Mad River Valley, maybe because we often stay at the Powderhound Condominiums next door.
