I will start off with this is a very busy spot, and is not a dine location. It is strictly take-out. My rating is strictly for my experience. We came here from seeing IG posts and reviews. The food on IG looks absolutely delicious! We arrived, and it was indeed busy! I wanted to try the oxtail boil because, why not!?!? I asked before ordering, if they had oxtails, and was told yes, so I proceeded with ordering an oxtail boil and a 12pc wing basket. 45 minutes later, I received a call stating they were out of oxtails and if I wanted a refund. So, now, I'm frustrated. I've waited for 45 minutes for my food, and now I have none besides my husband's wing basket. So, I told the young lady I wanted a refund and to order another 12pc wing basket, to which she responded, "You have one." I go inside because I don't think she understood what I was saying. The owner was nice and accommodating. I got my refund and was offered a dessert and drink. My food was placed at the register, and I asked if the other 12pc wings were there, to which the young lady stated I didn't say I wanted any. The owner quickly told her to drop 12 wings, and the next order would be mine. I appreciate the owner rectifying the situation. However, I still don't understand why it took 45 minutes to inform me that they were out of what I originally ordered. The food: My husband stated the lemon pepper wings were very tangy, and the garlic parmesean was well coated. I got the boom sauce and the hot lemon pepper, to which I really couldn't tell the difference. The wings were heavily coated and sauced but were kind of soggy, not crispy (we live 20 minutes from the location), but a quick pop into the oven or air fryer will crisp them right up! The fries were seasoned well and quite tasty.

📍 **Location and Ambiance:** Finding Boom Shack Dallas is a breeze—located at **3417 S Lancaster Rd, Dallas, TX, 75216**. The clean establishment invites you in, but the blacked-out window didn't quite hit the mark. Transparency matters, especially when it comes to food! 👀 🍗 **Wings: A Mixed Bag** I ordered six wings with sweet and spicy sauce. However, the reality left me disappointed. They turned out to be drumettes (not wings), and the confusion about portion size was a letdown. Naked-fried wings weren't what I expected. 🙅‍♂️ especially after I asked multiple times if there were breaded wings, not grummets. 🌶️ **Buffalo Lemon Pepper 2 pc. Catfish: A Salty Saga** The buffalo lemon pepper flavor was a sodium overload. Unbearably salty! Forcing me to pass my meal to a homeless person. 😔 On the brighter side, the catfish was a full and fluffy—perfectly cooked and breaded. Kudos! 🎣 🛎️ **Service and Communication:** Boom Shack Dallas impressed with its service. The buzzer system worked well, but i highly recommend a contactless alternative for notifying guests to avoid cross contamination, I could image during peak hours the buzzers not being cleaned between orders. 💰💰the total was roughly $35-40 **Final Thoughts:** Boom Shack Dallas has potential. With some flavor adjustments and better communication, it could win hearts (and taste buds). At this time, I won’t give it another shot! 🌟🍽️ Remember, food adventures are all about balance—just like those flavors should be! 😉 .

Boom Shack delivered a memorable food experience that deserves recognition. I ordered three items: the Cajun egg rolls, catfish tossed in buffalo garlic parmesan sauce, and a regular catfish plate with hush puppies and fries. The Cajun egg rolls were enjoyable, but I preferred them without batter — lighter and still packed with flavor. The buffalo garlic parmesan catfish was seasoned to perfection, earning a strong 8/10 from me, although I would have loved a thicker cut of fish to better hold all that bold flavor. The regular catfish plate was outstanding — the kind of fish you throw on a slice of white bread and wash down with a Tahitian Treat. The hush puppies were delicious, and the fries hit the spot, especially when fresh. The house tartar sauce was a little too tangy for my liking, but it added a unique twist. The Cajun crab rolls were decent, and I could see the stuffing being even better in a lettuce wrap. Portions were generous — I had more than enough food and was blessed to share a meal with a homeless person nearby. While the food exceeded my expectations, the customer service was mild at best, and the overall energy in the restaurant could definitely use some improvement. That said, the quality of the food made up for the lack of atmosphere. Somebody come rub my stomach — I’m happily full!

I’ve been to this location several times, and even recommended it when it FIRST opened. BUT take my review into consideration before you order here.

Well! The newness has worn off and the real is being displayed. The excellence they once had is gone, just like the flavor and quality of the food.

The food is heavily salted, and not as flavorful because it’s heavily seasoned with SALT.

The ramen noodle bowl is a hard pass, I couldn’t finish the meal, and didn’t care that I spent $21.00 dollars for it. (They even forgot the egg). And mid chew I got this strong urge to vomit (which was my cue to stop eating) 0/10

The egg rolls: No comment. The owner stated they sell out, but I talked to a friend of mine who tried them as well, and they left a lot to be desired. 2/10 (I’m being generous)

Next the tossed catfish: The garlic parmesan was heavy on the salt, the texture and taste were off, and tasted fishy: 0/10. The lemon pepper hot was solid. I’d give it a: 3/10. I won’t try it again, but the novelty wasn’t totally lost in the experience. Fries were good on the dishes. Fries:7/10

Drinks: The area looks dirty so I opted out based off of the appearance.

The kitchen and staff: The kitchen looks a bit messy. Normally, I’d turn around when the kitchen is filthy (and to be honest if the owner reads the reviews and considers them, I’d hope that they can get ahead of this because it’s getting sketchy, and I feel that soon it will be out of control): 5/10

Staff should have a uniform: I don’t care if it’s all black or the red shirt and black bottoms. It will give the place a more polished look and not look like the employee lack hygiene and self awareness.

Customer service: The owner was “nice”…. BUT I feel that it might border on the nice/nasty side of the coin, and that is a turn off. I say this because “niceness” comes with motives and is disingenuous (for example when she stated she wouldn’t up charge me and she did, it’s tacky and bad business). However, kindness is different and brings about a different attitude and will bring more favor to your business because you can operate from a place of kindness. This will permeate every area of your business and will bring the excellence back.

This concludes my review. I’m not sure if I’ll be back in the future. I do believe in redemption and second chances. I’ll come back in a year maybe, and we will see if they changed for the better or worse. My hope is that the owner isn’t offended, and that this will serve as motivation to not get weary in owning your own business, but push to be the BEST and maybe even expand because you’re known for your excellence. May the Father bless you and all who read...

Food is bomb!

I finally got to check this place out this past monday. I was very satisfied with the food so lemme break it down!

I ordered the catfish plate with French fries. It comes with pickles and sweet red peppers and hushpuppies. The fries are crinkle cut, seasoned and delish. It’s a good sized portion for the price and the fish was good. The catfish wasn’t SLAPPIN SLAPPIN but it was good. Also had the wings (2flavors) honey hot and lemon pepper. I’m personally not a big wing person but my honey pie is and he loved them ( and he is picky AF so that’s a good sign lol) they looked and smelled amazing but were a little too big for my liking ( I’m only very picky with wings lol ) however i still tried one and it was delicious! I’d def recommend the wings if you’re a wing lover.

Also, we had a size order of the sausage (you get three) and a side of corn. Comes in the boil bag with the boom sauce - it was BOMB OK! Very flavorful, very delicious. Lastly, i had the peach cobbler again VERY GOOD!

The place is to-go/pick up only. It’s clean inside and there’s some seating inside to wait for your food. They do not take orders over the phone only Google orders ( but they don’t have the full menu on Google) so it’s best to go there and order and wait.

The con is it did take a while for the order to be ready. There were people waiting pretty long before me. I waited about 30 mins or so before the order was ready.

Luckily i was off that day and wasn’t in a rush so i didn’t mind or complain. The service was decent. They weren’t extremely welcoming but they were nice and polite so It was fine to me. The area is sketchy but i also had never been to that side of town since I’ve moved to Dallas. ( I’m in Addison so it was a bit of a drive) but Hey, the best food is a hole in the wall spot anyway so i was hella okay with it. I will definitely return and tell all my people about this place! There’s so many things on the menu so it’ll take some time before i try everything but i will definitely leave another her review.

Keep it up boom shack, the food is amazing!

Overall, 8/10...
