I should’ve known something was up when I saw the lady take my plate out of the microwave. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, like “maybe it’s her lunch”. Then I saw it go in my bag and was like “maybe she just needed to melt some cheese real quick”. I asked her why she put the food in the microwave but her English wasn’t good so she could barely communicate with me so I decided not to make a big deal about it. Anyway it was a chimichanga for my grandmother who hadn’t tried a chimichanga before. So I didn’t think much of it when she said she didn’t like it after a couple bites. However when she gave me the rest of it, I saw that it was soggy and not fresh looking and remembered the lady taking the plate out of the microwave. Then I wondered if she sold us an old leftover plate that had been sitting up. I can’t say for sure but I know it was odd to see a plate coming out of the microwave…the entire plate…beans, rice & all. It was the soggiest, worst tasting chimichanga I’d ever had. I’m used to good chimichangas from Gloria’s. I will say that the trompo taco that I got for myself was delicious. That’s the only reason I’m giving a 2 and not a 1. If you’re gonna go here, stick to the trompo. That’s their specialty. I also got quesabirria tacos for myself and they were ok…not great, not bad. Neither person working there spoke good English but the cook did apologize for not being able to communicate well, another reason I gave a 2 for service as opposed to 1. But food in a microwave is unacceptable, especially when it comes out soggy and seemingly old. Please change that. I’ll be back for the trompo. It was that good and you know it’s fresh because you see them shave it. But that chimichanga, keep it....
Read moreI drove 40 minutes to try this restaurant that is a 4.8 and I was excited as a Mexican American to see one of our own have one of our own be rated so high. I went in and it was at a gas station and the atmosphere was terrible. There bunch of crack heads harassing me for money. By the time I told the last one no it was my turn to order. So I ordered a trompo taco plate and an horchata. I should have known it was going to be a bad spot as soon as the horchata was nasty, it had very little flavor and tasted like freeze dry. I literally had to battle my way through crackheads and bums to my car to eat. When I opened the plate of food it was an extremely small amount of meat, beans were watery and the rice had potatoes??? Anyways I try a taco and the over greased tortilla had more flavor than the plain meat. The green sauce is usually the best but very plain the beans and rice were pretty terrible as well. So I just ended up not eating it just to give it my pets. I'm pretty sure it's only rated so high because non Latino Americans overrated it and have no idea what a true taco...
Read moreI was asking for flautas number 10 on most places like this. I said may I have the flower plate. She looked at me and started speaking Spanish saying I don’t understand what you’re saying. I explained to her that flautas is the same either English or Spanish. When I got them, the chicken wasn’t to the end of the tortilla the crumbled cheese on top and the cream that they usually put on. It was very little. Why do these Mexican restaurants insist on me speak in Spanish it’s not fair. I know there’s other races that come through there. Why do they not have any problem? Why do they make it hard on me...
