Hey everyone wanna let you know about a little lunch spot that I went to today Dairy,-Ette and it’s basically at the corner of Oates Drive and Ferguson Road, Across the street from Bishop Lynch high school. This place is very old-school very basic they’re known for their burgers and their root beer. I personally have been coming here since the mid-70s and this place was well-established before then they’ve got an awning out front with 10 spaces that if you pull under that you can get car hop service. You can also park on the one side of the building and go in order your food bring it back to your vehicle. It’s basic, it’s simple and it’s good. today I just got a cheeseburger which was like 475 nice grilled meat patty diced onions shredded lettuce tomato pickles mustard and a slice of gooey American cheese. Once I ordered the burger was out in about six minutes I didn’t get the root beer today but if you’re a root beer fan they have some extremely good root beer and they used to bring it out in a nice icy- frosty mug. As you can see by the pictures the burger may not be the most beautiful burger you’ve ever seen they don’t try to trick it up with a lot of sauces and fried jalapeños or Crazy condiments or different sauces, you know things like that, which there’s nothing wrong with that but if you’re just in the mood for a solid basic burger a good burger you can see from the pictures this is the one and it needed no salt or pepper it was extremely good and fresh and it’s a full-size burger they’re not scaling down to make smaller burgers like some places are. Show my opinion any place that’s been there for 50+ years and hasn’t changed that much and still making it is worth the trip over there so if you’re over in East Dallas around lunchtime or dinner time pull in to Dairy-ette and give it a try you’ll love it you’ll be a fan and you’ll come back. Be...
Read moreI randomly saw a video on TikTok today where some girl was showcasing this place as a hidden gem in Dallas. I had never even heard of this place at all, but to be fair I have only lived here since 2018, and this is in an area I have never been to really.
I drove my neighbor somewhere tonight, and I look over and there's Dairy-Ette! I excited relay the TikTok story to my neighbor in the passenger seat, then a bit down the road, I turn around and go back. Place was empty with two employees in front and at least one cook. I thought they might have been closed, despite the bright neon sign saying , "open!"
Very small inside but definitely very clean and well taken care of. I am not sure I'd fit in one of the booths, but I am getting this to-go, so no worries. Place looks very historic, and I think it's been open since 1956 perhaps, as they had merch/shirts w '56 on the stuff. It looks like a trip back into time.
I ordered a chili cheeseburger with everything on it and some onion rings. My total was $10.82. Great food. The two girls inside were pleasant and friendly. Onion rings were huge, well battered, seemed most likely to be battered in-house not frozen, and the amount in one order was actually quite a bit. The chili cheese burger was really great as well. Not sure I would get it topped w everything next time, but it still worked. It's quite a big burger at that.
Glad I happened to randomly see that video earlier and just randomly drove by. Definitely a place I would visit more often if it weren't so far away from my apartment, but I would totally...
Read moreWOW, what a trip back in time!!! I give it four stars because there was an elderly gentleman there who sparked up a conversation with me and my friend and made us feel very comfortable. We had just finished a demolition of a storage space in Beth's backyard and we're extremely tired and dirty. He was a customer like us but, welcomed us in and asked us to sit down. I talked of my military service and found he himself served in the United States Navy. He seemed to enjoy the conversation as much as I did. This place took me back to memory lane when I was a child in a very small home town in West Texas. There was an elderly gentleman there as well who we called ol' man Whistler. He would whistle songs to us and give us quarters to go to the candy store....this man reminded me of him. This was truly a trip, for me, that brought back a lot of memories. These places are being rapidly overcome by "super franchises" and, to put it plainly, " mass feeding holes" looking for profits, shareholders and nothing more. The only reason Dairy-Ette didn't receive 5 stars was because of a foul mouthed individual that came in with some girls but, that's not a reason to deny them their fair rating. I personally hope this kid never shows up again embarrassing himself and everyone else. I hope and pray God gets his attention soon. Excellent job Dairy-Ette, keep up the good work!!! Oh and plenty of...
