This place might have great food (I'll never find out), but their customer service is crap. Went here last night to pick up one specific ingredient for a new curry recipe since a friend told me that she knew for sure they carry it. Checked online AND called in advance to confirm how late they're open since I'd be coming from Carrollton in afternoon rush hour. Arrived 20 minutes before the man I spoke with said they closed only to see a "closed" sign hanging in the window, then a woman standing at the front door waving her hands at me as I prepared to double check whether I could pick up this ONE item. I didn't even want them to cook; just to sell me one bloody ingredient! She didn't look distressed or anything, like they'd had to close because of some kind of emergency; just hanging out inside with the TV going. So after nearly an hour in traffic going out of my way, I went home empty handed, and couldn't make curry for dinner either. I really prefer supporting local businesses whenever possible, especially independent ones, but I will just order what I needed online and will never go back to this place. Very...
Read moreI discovered this very small restaurant/market looking on Google Maps one night when I couldn't sleep. I've lived in Oak Cliff more than 20 years and never knew it existed. To be polite the location and the physical restaurant are unassuming; however, he food is exceptional. The egg rolls taste freshly made and are a great way to begin the meal. The Pad See Ew with shrimp is is my favorite I've ever had. It is my default dish when I travel and from the east to the west coast I've tried many Pad See Ew plates. Ly Food Market & Gifts is my favorite. Maybe because the restaurant does a slight fusion of Laos and Thai so it is just a bit better than the rest. This is a family run business and the mom is the cook. I've seen her go to the market part of the store to get fresh produce if the kitchen has run out of an item. The Red Curry meal has the front taste of coconut and curry and then blooms with other spices finishing with enough heat to satisfy. My friends favorite is the Pad Thai. The service is family run and friendly, and the prices...
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to eat and just happened to choose this place. Upon arrival we were kind of reluctant because it said it was a market. We hopped out of the car and looked inside and were pleased to see how authentic the place seemed. So we ordered our food upfront and went to sit down in the dining area. We ordered Pad See Ew w/ Tofu, Pork Fried Rice and an order of Fried Spring Rolls. When the food arrived we noticed that the Pad See Ew had different veggies than we were used to having with it. (most restaurants use just Chinese broccoli w/ eggs mixed and meat of your choice. Theirs has broccoli, carrots and snow peas which I think is great!)
So we started to eat and the food was AMAZING! I would recommend this place to everyone! They have excellent customer service! We have a curious and sometimes loud 3 year old and they were really nice to him even when he poked his head in the kitchen.
We are planning on eating there again tonight actually and cant wait to try...
