Very disappointed. We just moved here from Washington state which is full of amazing authentic Thai food. We have been looking for 3 months for a great place in York County to no avail. My husband has been picking it up in Harrisburg. I saw this place on my way to my mom's house and thought it would be great to try it. We always order the same dishes because we like them. Which is Hot basil fried rice vegetable and Thai fried rice chicken. I was excites to eat it when I got home and I couldn't even stand the taste. It had what I would call undertones of old bay. Too much of some spice was used and completely drowned out the basil. It was also not spicy but just tasted bad. My husband had been working in the yard all day and I told him to not expect the taste of what he wanted, but just use and open mind and think of it as a different dish. Hoping that he could eat it. He tried and took 2 bites. He didn't end up eating anything but 2 spring rolls. The food my daughters ate had very little chicken in it. Theirs however did have the authentic flavor so that was good.
The photo attached to my review is my husband's plate from last night. Yes, a whole 16 hours ago because it was gross. We were seriously hoping this place would do it because it is a convenient location for us to pick up on the way home from visiting family. $60 of food in the trash. :( I am not one to leave negative reviews but I could not stomach it and neither could my husband.
I also want to note that the owner's husband was very nice. He praised his wife's cooking abilities, which I admire. Definitely a nice family owned business. Just not great food.
Also, I actually never leave bad reviews unless they are warranted. You can see in my local guide history. And, yes...it tasted like old freaking bay. I hate that stuff to begin with. I haven't had a chance to throw away the boxes in the fridge yet I can bring it back if you want to taste and see for yourself.
I also want to point out that I help people with their reviews for a living and this is not the appropriate way to handle a negative review. People can see your defensiveness is...
Read moreIt started off poorly. There is a bank vault open in the middle of the dining area. It could be a cool feature. However it was a kids room with a boy playing video games and making noise. The young man serving us was trying but you could tell he knew absolutely nothing about being a server and knew no answers to any of our questions. The main course came out and there was hair in my food. I've traveled the world and have eaten some crazy things so I just pulled it out and thought "I've seen worse". The food was bad. It was over cooked and under seasoned. My wife had the fried rice which was clearly made from fresh hot rice which is a big no no in fried rice. It was mushy with a whitish beige color and no salt. She got chicken and scallops. The chicken was old and a bit dry with zero seasoning. The scallops were definitely frozen and had that weird off taste of freezer burn. My house special pad Thai was just as bad. The noodles were strangely rubbery, the shrimp could double as bouncy balls, the egg on top was burned, and the same scallops as my wife's dish. They had coconut water on the menu so I decided to try that because I love green coconuts. I watched the server grab ice with his hands and plop it on a glass. I then asked if it was from acytually coconuts and he told me it was from a can. I could barely bring myself to drink any of it. My wife and I were shocked that we didn't get sick later that day. The biggest insult in the end was the price. $70 for what may be the worst Thai food I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. I honestly wish we had just gotten gas station cheeseburgers.
Edit* If you can see the snark in the response below, this is why we didn't bother saying anything. You'd just be told you were wrong and it would be an argument. I don't make a habit of sending food back because I don't trust some people not to take it out of my food. I just pay and learn from my mistake Judging by their response, I believe...
Read moreBased on our experience here I can’t believe this place has such good reviews! I’ve been a lot of Thai places across the country and eaten Thai home cooking and I have to say I just feel like something is off with the flavors here. This was definitely the worst I’ve had. I know there’s variations in each chef’s and regional cooking but this seemed like more than that.
I came here with my mom, my sister and my best friend after checking out Wyndridge as a wedding venue. We all love Thai and thought this would be a sure shot. The owners were sweet and very friendly, lots of nice stories to tell so the atmosphere is good. We got the summer rolls and calamari to start and not one of us liked either. The calamari seemed like prepackaged frozen. Maybe they’re not but that’s what they tasted like. To be fair that’s not the most Thai dish in the world, but the quality just wasn’t there either. The summer rolls just seemed so bland with no basil or other flavors in them and the dipping sauces (the one with the calamari and the one with the summer rolls) were not to any of our taste so that eliminated those as a source of flavor. There wasn’t a basic/standard option as an alternative so it was really not very enjoyable. My best friend and I got pad Thai, which I feel like is my “safety” choice when trying somewhere new. Even that had a funny taste that wasn’t palatable midway through the plate and was very heavy with what tasted like some sort of vinegar. My sister got a curry that she couldn’t make it through either. My mom got Tom kha gai, her personal favorite, which she said was at best mediocre. I’m shocked that every dish was so bad because I’ve never had that experience at a Thai place. Not sure what all these other people are getting but I’m with Amanda here. Something in the spices or flavors here isn’t quite right. I hope they can improve it because they have a cute atmosphere and family dynamic that...
