Dalton Dari-ette is a nice stop for a quick ice cream or a little longer social meal. Their food is not-so-fast fast food, as they plainly state on their menus. Whatever hot food you order is made as you order it, so it is always delivered to you freshly hot and ready. Even when they get really busy, wait times for your food are still relatively quick-you get a beeper pod so you can be alerted as to when it's ready wherever you are on the property. They have a large, clean picnic area with multiple table to sit, eat and converse at so it's a good stop for families, groups of friends, or a quick date. The staff is friendly, smiles, and works quickly. Some of the food items I tried and was not particularly fond of, but that's just my personal taste. I enjoy the many variations of a specialty flavor soft serve that they advertise every week. I even surprisingly liked the key lime flavor which I usually pass over. The only negative point I might have is that the entrance is right on a side road next to a traffic light, so getting in and out can be challenging especially if the light backs traffic up and drivers rush to get through the light change and leave you no opening. They can't change the entrance, so patience and eye contact with other drivers is a must to avoid an accident. Parking can also be challenging during really busy times, so again, patience is a must.
All in all, a popular and enjoyable place to stop. You'll find which food items you really like and probably stick with them. However, do try the different soft serve flavors advertised weekly-you may be surprised at what new flavor you may like. And then you'll want to...
Read moreI'm gonna get dogged on for this one, but I don't love this place. I've been going here since I was a child.
The food is OK at best. I'd say it's definitely below average as far as American burger stands go for sure. They're a bit behind it: relish is apparently still a part of "the works" here, and the burgers taste frozen. The hot dogs are cafeteria quality, more or less.
The ice cream isn't the best, the milk shakes being generally sore-throat syrupy. The chocolate anything is usually pretty Hershey flavored. If the fruits aren't artificial, I'll be surprised to find out.
They've just gotten to take cards here, which is great -- we'd skipped out on plenty of trips because of it in the past.
The Dari-ette will always do good business because of nostalgia. Because it's where you went with mom and dad. Because mom and dad hung there in high school. Because it's always popping during the summer, of course you'll go! But, if I'm genuinely looking for good food? I'll probably pick another stand. I don't want to eat weird burgers next to route 30 very...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place, as a great friend raves about it. Unfortunately I just was not impressed. Pro's - friendly staff lots of line options outside seating lots of menu choices to satisfy everyone in the family
Cons - only 2 cheese choices (American and Swiss) the Coney sauce tasted a lot like manwich I had the grilled ham n cheese and the cheese was extremely thin slices and the ham was ok sliced, but for the price of the sandwich I would definitely have expected thicker slices of both (see photo) the mozzarella sticks were a great size portion with plenty of cheese at a very reasonable price...however, whatever oil they fried it gave it a not so great taste and took away from it. I'm not sure if some fish was fried in it or it was old, but it just had an odd oily taste I couldn't place
For the $12 I spent for the above, I definitely feel I should have received a better meal. I could have gone to a restaurant and spent the same with...
