I highly recommend Ruthie's for any special occasion! Took my wife here for her birthday and I was honestly blown out of the water. Grace's service was fantastic and the food was absolutely amazing.
The meal started off with complementary bread basket with two garlic spreads and olive oil. The bread basket had a few different kinds of bread, all brought out warm and ready to eat. The two butter spreads were Sundried Tomato and Pink Lemon Aid. I was a little thrown off at first by the sound of a Pink Lemond Aid garlic spread, but I was surprised that it paired perfectly with the bread. The warmth of the bread and the sweetness of the Pink Lemond Aid spread tasted amazing. The Sundried spread was perfect, nothing more I can say about that.
For the first time in a long time, I decided to try French Onion soup and it was delicious. Lots of cheese and the broth was amazing. Dipped some of the bread that came with the bread basket in the broth and it was incredible.
For the main course, my wife and I ordered family style Asparagus-Hollandaise. My wife ordered Maryland Ribeye and I ordered the Filet Marmalade and topped it with the Lump Crab Oscar. The steaks were cooked to perfection! It was literally like a hot knife cutting through butter. I was stunned at the tenderness of the Filet Marmalade. The Filet Marmalade comes with brandy pork belly marmalade and that pork belly was just amazing. Pared with the Filet, I was shocked at how delicious it was and thinking about it, my mouth is watering writing this review. I should add that I am not a huge fan of pork and pork belly marmalade was cooked to absolute perfection and I feel would be really hard to find anything comparable in the Quad Cities. I really think it could be pared well with a Mac & Cheese dish, just something to consider if the owner reads this.
From personal experience, asparagus is a hit or miss to cook well. Either it is still too hard or the tips come out dried and burnt. Let me tell you, the asparagus was just amazing. Cooked to absolute perfection. Soft to bite into and the char on the Asparagus enhanced the flavor of the Hollandaise. For the price, I was surprised at how much Asparagus came with the dish, it was much more than expected and so good that none was taken in a to go box. I tried a Wife's Maryland Ribeye and that was cooked to savory perfection.
With this being my Wife's birthday dinner, Ruthie's did not disappoint in the slightest! I found the manager and asked if they did anything for birthdays and they do! A complementary, chocolate cake, perfect size for sharing between just the two of us. I was surprised to see the cake came with a hand written birthday card. That was a nice touch and made the evening more memorable.
Only critique I have is the menu did not state that our Signature dishes came with Asparagus. If we had known that, we might have tried one of the other side dishes. We had a ton of asparagus, but again, I do not have any complaints as it was all cooked to perfection.
Overall 5/5! Amazing and I will definitely go back...
Read moreWe chose to spend my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary at Ruthie’s, but I wish we would have chosen otherwise. The service overall was very subpar, we were in the restaurant for almost 2 and a half hours, everything we asked for there seemed to be a 20-30 minute delay before we got. When we paid the bill our server walked around with the book in his front pocket with the credit card hanging out for over 10 minutes. I’m a rather understanding person, I’ve worked in customer service for almost 10 years, but this was just very poor service especially for the price tag.
Now for the food, the bread and butter basket was absolutely delicious. We got to try the tomato basil and peaches and cream butters which were absolutely delectable. The breads were also absolutely fantastic! We also ordered a tickle me pink and a red sangria, both of which were also very average. The tickle me pink had a cough syrup flavor that I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but to each their own. The filet medallions and shrimp was one of our meals. The filet was not very tender and didn’t have much flavor, but the shrimp was very good. The potato confit it came with was also very good along with the onion strings. We also ordered a Maryland ribeye which again was on the tougher side and didn’t have too much flavor. The seafood pasta was also very average, wasn’t impressed with the flavor. We got a side order of the fingerling potatoes which were absolutely fantastic a must try if you choose to go, and the Brussels sprouts which were also okay. My biggest complaint with the food is that it was pretty close to stone cold except for the potatoes. We would have mentioned this to the server if he had stopped by the table during our meal. Pasta was hard on the outside but hot on the inside, steaks were cold, Brussels sprouts were cold which leads me to believe that the food had been sitting for some time before it made it out to the table. Very disappointing.
For my grandparents anniversary we were given a free dessert, which was very nice. Although, to be honest it was not very good if you go I would not recommend the mousse cake, very dry and I honestly am not sure there was any mousse. Tasted very similar to the tuxedo cake at Costco.
Overall, I was not impressed by Ruthie’s. An extremely expensive meal that did not have the quality or temperature I would have liked. I personally would choose another steakhouse local to the quad cities. Before you ask, no we did not say anything when we left. I don’t want them to pitty me and try to make up for the poor service, I just want it done right the first time. Sorry Ruthie’s we...
Read moreMy husband and I can to Ruthie's for the first time last night we were celebrating our anniversary so wanted something special. The food was delicious!!! The only problem was the service was not good. After we were sitted our server came over she was an older lady. She asked us what we wanted to drink we juat got water. Then she brought us the bread and told us what kinda there was and what butters there were. Then she walked away my husband and I sat and chatted and 20 -30 minutes went by she came back and took our order. I got the Atlantic salmon and mashed potatoes, my husband got a new York strip steak. Like I said before the food was delicious. So then we sat there chatting our water glasses were almost gone the manger I believe she was dark suit dark hair walked around us 3 or 4 times then finally asked if we wanted more water, then she filled our glasses. So another 30-40 mins went by our server never came back to check on us. Then she bring my husband a steak knife so we kinda figured our food was going to be coming. She then brought is our dinner. She hands us our meals. And then asked if we needed anything else we got more water. Normal while you eating some one comes up and asked how things are. She did not do that. We got finished, she came back and asked if we want a box. We said no can we get dessert. She didn't even offer us dessert, then she says yes would you like to see the samples we have we said yes, mind you she had showed several other tables with out asking She brings it out and tells us what everything was and we order our dessert and asked if we could get it to go. She said yeah for sure. After this another 30 or so minutes go by she doesn't come back to ask if we need anything untill she brings us our dessert and the check. We give her our playing card and cash to pay for our dinner. She comes back and she says have a good night thanks for coming in. I and writing this review because I feel as if the service could have been faster and more positive maybe a smile. I feel as if we were treated differently like we werent supposed to be up there. I probably wont recommend Ruthie's to my family and friends. The other server connor was amazing...
