Wente's Defiance Roadhouse — Restaurant in Defiance

Ka-Kaw MthrFckr! -I went to Wente's Defiance Roadhouse over the weekend. Yes, it is the place with the squirrels, and the squirrels are still there and safe. They have recently reopened under new ownership, and I wanted to check it out, as I love Wente’s in Chesterfield. I have been to this roadhouse before over the years watching slowly morph into this new journey. but I can see a tremendous, thought out planning of this place. The staff all wore black shirts and had staff on the back. No problem getting service. They were all super nice. Had a great band hanging out on their large patio. I like the grass umbrellas too. I got two orders of the ribs. It was one full rack of ribs, tater tots, baked beans, and coleslaw for 24.99 dollars. “C’mon, man”. Where can you get that kind of a deal? I got it home and it was delicious. The ribs were tasty and extremely meaty. If my liver could handle it I would go there every day! There was a strong storm coming in, but the band was jumping so a lot of us hung in there until the wind hit. I would give six stars if there were backs and chairs to sit in on the patio! One of my favorite joints tho. Defiance is really starting to take off!!!! Bravo, Keep it up!!! ...

The food was fantastic. I got the giant BLT (pictured) and was impressed. The bacon was thick-cut and the veggies tasted fresh. The fries had a great texture and seasoning. My partner enjoyed her fried shrimp and tots and raved about the housemade ranch dressing. It was definitely one of the best I've ever had.

All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive, but not "too much."

The atmosphere was fun and kind of down-home quirky/kitschy. My only issue was that the music was very loud, to where I had trouble hearing my partner. I'm pretty sensitive to that so take it with a grain of salt. If you're good with typical sports bar volume you'll be fine.

I would definitely come back, and their menu has quite a few items I still want to try. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could because of the volume, but our very sweet waitress tipped the scales...

I am so glad someone re-opened this business in downtown Defiance! Please stop through and check this place out! The good was delicious! I went for the reuben and my companion went for the Frisco burger. It did not disappoint! The sandwiches were delicious and the portions generous. The staff was plenty and helpful with our selections. They upgraded the interior but kept a few of the squirrel decor from before. The outside had lots of seating and we took advantage of the beautiful weather to sit outside. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure they kept the iced tea coming, and checking on us from time to time. I highly recommend this place whether you are driving or even bicycling through.
