Thank you Whataburger in DeFuniak Springs, FL for showing love. Sometimes I'll have a taste for chicken tenders & honey, and it always seems to be after every store and restaurant in town has closed; except Whataburger. So I find myself driving down US Hwy 331 South to Whataburger for chicken tenders & honey. (There have been 1 or 2 occasions where I was the only car on the road. Sort of an uneasy feeling being the only car stopped at a red light on the most traveled road connecting North & South Walton County. But hey I've got my big girl britches on and my doors are locked. Besides I know there is at least 1 county or city police officer patrolling idle or mobile so I'm good.) Pulling into Whataburger to satisfy my heart's desire ahmm excuse me, my taste buds rather, I go in, order a No. 13 and pay for my meal. Usually at this time there is a sweet, very dedicated employee who always serves the best french fries. I have yet to catch her name but she has an incredible way of making those fries stay hot and fresh through the ride home. What I appreciate and love is she remembers just how I would like my order when I come; fresh fries with no salt and chicken tenders that have been up already sitting in a warmer. (I do enjoy freshly cooked chicken now don't get me wrong but it's already past my bed time so I'll gladly take tenders that I can bite right into without scalding my palate and having to wait ten extra mins to eat.) This young lady sets great standards for how food service employees ought to serve customers. She is also the reason I don't allow the adult in me to talk myself out of chicken tenders & honey at midnight. I will be sure to ask her her name on my next visit and tell her again I appreciate the kindness and love she shares....
Read more10 hours in to our 12 hour drive, we made the terrible decision to take the exit into DeFuniak Springs. We pulled into the drive-thru and didn’t move for almost 5 minutes, and decided to just park and I sent my boyfriend in to get our food. He went in, ordered, and then started the wait. From the time he ordered to the time he walked out the door, 18 minutes had passed. During this time he attempted to ask the manager what the status was or if he could just get a refund so we could get back on the road, but the manager (the one with the darker black hair) was too busy arguing with an employee that wanted to go home 2 hours early. I can totally understand having to train new staff, but I cannot understand doing so in the most chaotic and unprofessional way possible. After this, another customer walked around the corner wanting to order a shake after he finished his meal and the manager told him the machine was down and needed to be cleaned. No big deal if your machine is down, it happens. What is a big deal is that customer responding with “I’m going to get my gun out of the truck” and the manager laughing at it like it was a funny joke. Never will that be a funny joke, especially with the state of the world right now. My boyfriend mentioned this being a terrible joke to both of them and the manager reassured him that HE found it funny so that made it okay??….anyways… Food finally came out and we’re back on the road, but my fries are cold and my burger has onions on it…. Thank you What-a-Burger for solidifying my hatred for...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this place on our way home on a road trip. We love the Dr. Pepper Milkshake, and we don’t have any within an hour of home, so we decided to stop. There was a very long line in the drive thru, so I went inside. I ordered one small Dr. Pepper Shake and two medium Dr. Pepper shakes from Chelsie. Fast forward 15 minutes, and I still don’t have shakes. When I ask her about them she said oh yeah and went to fix them. She brought the milkshakes and placed them on the counter. While she was getting straws, I noticed the color looked awfully light so I opened them and they look like vanilla shakes. When I asked her she replies with, “Well I have to replace the syrup to make Dr. Pepper shakes.” I reply, “Okay. So instead of telling me that it would take a little longer you purposely served me the wrong thing?” Chelsie then throws up her hands and raises her voice to say, “I’m doing the best I can!” Then, she walks away headed to the back of the kitchen. Excuse me, but the best you can do is purposely serve me the wrong thing and pass it off for the correct thing? I don’t think so! Then, another lady takes over. This is when I realize the machine is broken, because she calls for someone else to help her fix it. At this point, I was totally over it, so I got a refund and we left. If we wanted Vanilla milkshakes, we would’ve just gone to...
