Retro Delight with Classic American Flavors at Big Rig 2, DeLand Stepping into Big Rig 2 in DeLand is like a delightful journey back in time, right into the heart of the 1980s. The moment I crossed the threshold, I was greeted with an ambiance that’s a pure ode to the era, complete with a decor that's a tapestry of local lore and nostalgia. This isn’t just a place that serves food; it’s a living, breathing museum of community history, where every wall tells a story through photos of local family milestones and triumphs. You can almost hear the echoes of laughter and conversation that have filled the space over the years. And the food? It's the epitome of classic American cuisine. Every dish feels like comfort on a plate, from juicy burgers that challenge you to take a bite without making a mess, to milkshakes so thick and creamy, they'd make the 80s proud. The flavors are timeless, the portions generous, and the experience is as authentic as it gets. It’s clear that Big Rig 2 isn’t just trapped in the 1980s; it celebrates the best of the era with pride. The smiling faces of the staff add to the charm, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. For anyone craving a taste of classic Americana and a trip down memory lane, Big Rig 2 is a five-star stop that delivers on all fronts.

Update August 22, 2023 Big Rig 2 Received several food services violations that required a follow-up🙀😿I'm disappointed 😞 I will continue to follow this & until then, I will not return. My review was posted before this date, but I will not retract it. I'll just update it at a later time if I choose to even return!😏 I saw this place while passing it in the past. Noticed it served Chicken Gizzards & Liver & Onions, so I made a mental note to check it c out when I was in the area. I've just moved closer to it, so I decided to take an evening walk there to order Gizzards. I walked in & I placed my order with a wonderful server named Shailey. Service with a smile & hospitality❣️😻 I took my Gizzards home & despite the fact that I had a bit of tooth pain was egar to get to eating them😋🤪 I must say that they weren't bad, could've used just a bit more seasoning, tenderness, checking in the cleaning process to get the those hard bitter greenish yellow skins off each gizzard before cooking but not at all bad. I would skip the red velvet cake, which sounds better than it was because it is a box cake & not the best at all! I will give it another chance to see if my suggestions is taken into consideration & then go back for another order & try the Liver & Onions, Soon hopefully!

This is usually our go to place when in the area. This last time was disappointing!!! It was busy, so we wound up sharing a table with a police officer, in uniform, on his break. It took 45 minutes for the officer to get his food and it wasn't made right. He ate what he could and had to go. Our food took 50 minutes and came out horrible!!! I'm not sure how you can burn the corned beef hash and have runny, undercooked scrambled eggs on the same plate...but they managed to pull it off!!! The waitress actually put it in front of me, said "It's burnt, do you want me to get you another one?" OMG!!! SERIOUSLY?! You didn't see that it was burnt before you carried it out of the kitchen?! My husband had undercooked eggs and overcooked ham on his plate! The kicker was, we had already told the server we were paying for the police officer and she brought us the checks....no discount at all!!! 3 not edible meals, that we paid full price for!!!?!?! Not again. I mean we already waited almost an hour....how much longer would a second attempt at cooking our meals have taken? No thank you! Just lost us as customers. Sad that nobody wanted to be more accommodating and maybe adjust the bill.

I hate leaving negative reviews. We arrived this morning; 3 adults and a small child. We were never greeted when we came in and stood around as numerous employees walked by. I eventually flag a server down and ask if it would be okay to sit outside. After some grumbling by the server and the elderly server with blond hair (she had the worst attitude for being in the service industry). We sit outside and the server, a younger girl, super nice, let us know there would be a wait as they were busy. No problem! We aren’t in a hurry at all! As we wait almost an hour for our food which isn’t even ready to arrive, (which was fine we weren’t in a hurry; for others just a heads up the food takes a while) the weather changed where it was extremely windy to the point that leaves and dirt were flying around and ended up in our drinks. By this time, two parties of 4 left. There now are two available tables with no one waiting to be seated. I go inside to ask if we can move to an inside table as we have already ordered our food and the weather is bad. The elderly, miserable, server with the blond hair, says that we can’t sit inside as there are no tables and once we are outside we are outside! I said to her there are two open tables, she then says there are for the people waiting. Ummm there is now no one waiting except for the bus boy to clean the two tables. I tell her to cancel the whole order. She then back pedals and says “oh you’re with them”? Yes! I am with the only black person and bi racial child in the place. Were these two tables reserved, which I doubt, or was she trying to discourage us, to leave? She goes on to make excuses once she realizes I am with “them”. I called her out on her behavior (not making a scene). She then (isn’t our server keep that in mind) keeps coming back numerous times to “check” on us, to the point I had to ask her to please leave us alone. Our bill was $60 and I left the server a $40 as I can’t even imagine how awful it must be for her to work there.

I discourage those who go there to avoid the elderly waitress with the terrible attitude.

Maybe it’s time for her to enjoy her golden years and exit the service industry.

We will not be back. We will support other local mom and pop...

I rolled my 18 minus 14 wheeler into the parking lot. I voiced my best "PSSSHHH" air brake sound to complete the effect. Finding this place online, we had a big case of 'review envy', in a mouthwatering way.

Welcomed in a Big Rig way by Bethany holding the door open for us was a real nice touch. Beth, as they call her was to be our server as well. Very impressed, I was already mind-writing this review.

Understand that the menu is a teasing collection of homespun favorites mixed with intriguing combinations. Bologna, that oft-forgotten sausage plays a big role in several recipes. Grilled bologna and eggs. Egg, cheese & bologna sandwiches. Bologna grilled cheese. Etc. You can get a good ol' PB&J sandwich, with grape jelly.

My Fav Fab One, also known as Beth, ordered the 4 Piece Fried Chicken Dinner. I had been considering a northern style pork cutlet sandwich. Or, a Philly Steak Hoagie and a cup of chili. Chili is awesome on a cool November day. Lots of tongue tingling choices, so many wonderful choices. But, when the 'other' Beth stepped in to take our orders, I was already imagining some Big Rig pigging out on some fine fried chicken!

THE BEST fried chicken either one of us has EVER had! Sweet. Juicy through and through. Lip smacking, finger licking damn good! We were getting a lot of smiles per gallon on this poultry-leum! Ohhhhhhhhhh man!

Cornbread. The cornbread raised the bar to a level that will never be matched. Think 'cornbread cake'! Moist. Sweet. Moist. Sweet. Heaven to eat. Hands down the bestest cornbread ever.

By the time we put our forks down, we were in La La Land. The food. La WOW! The service. La Wow! The whole experience. Yep. La Wow!

I could literally eat every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner at this place. They are open 24/7 after all. It would be a real 'Weigh Station' expectation.

Tell them John, and my...
