Fool me once is all it takes. Many cars in the parking lot got me wondering so tonight I wondered no more. Very warm welcome from 4 staff members but that seemed to be fake. I was told to wait for the hostess and when she finally came back from seating someone, another group came in and was quickly seated ahead of us. The staff that greeted us never spoke up to correct this mistake but lucky for us it wasn’t busy so we were seated immediately afterwards. I had the combo plate which was a fair price for the amount of food, see picture. However, the plate couldn’t hold the portions so I asked for another plate. A bad idea because the table couldn’t hold all the plates, leaving no room what’s so ever to enjoy ones meal. The 6 bbq sauces were nothing to write home about, which left me unable to slobber the sauce of choice all over the meaty portions so I managed to eat without. I had chicken, ribs and sirloin. What showed up was a nice smoky flavored meat with lots of fat and very dry not the fall off the bone meat. The sirloin was cut like an Arbys roast beef, which I didn’t expect. And I did not touch the chicken, too disgusted to continue eating. The beans and corn were tasty but the fries were very cold and soggy. My wife had the shrimp linguine, which she said had no taste but it did have 15 nice size shrimp. My motto is try everything once so you have your own opinion thus I did at Brian’s BBQ and that will be the last. I lived in San Antonio Texas for 9 years and I gotta say Brian’s BBQ is not Texas style BBQ. YUK!

On my travels through Deland, I kept passing Brians's BBQ. From the outside, it looked promising. I stopped by the other night about 5:30PM, before any dinner rush, if they have one. I decided to try the chicken and ribs as they are often a great barometer to measure a BBQ joint by. I was seated quickly and the waitress was great. To start, the sauces, yuck. The "mustard" sauce could have been pure yellow mustard. I could not tell the difference. The other sauces were just so far off from what I am used to, I stayed away from them. It may be my personal preference, but all the sauces, except ketchup were a no-go for me. Also, forced to drink "OK" Pepsi, Coke lovers will be disappointed. Back to the food, the ribs served to me were a total joke, dried up, tiny, way smaller than baby back, ends and dried out dark meat chicken. I sent the ribs back and even the waitress said, "I'm glad you sent those back, I was embarrassed even to bring them out, but he made me." The replacements were significantly better, but they lacked any smoked taste. They tasted like NJ BBQ, bla, chargrilled and desperately needing a slather of sauce to be palatable. Everything tasted and felt like it had been nuked back to life. Including the drink and tip, the tab was almost $25. I may give the place another try someday, but it won't be anytime soon.

We read the recent reviews...and we should have listened to them. It was extra warm and stuffy in the dining area, which was uncomfortable. Service (from Angel) was good. She was pretty attentive, considering she appeared to be the only server in the place. The food came out quickly, with large portions. I ordered the combination plate with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, green beans, fries, and coleslaw. The fries were done to my liking, but the ketchup had a funny flavor. The chicken was dry. The coleslaw and beans just came from a can. Adding salt gave them a bit of flavor. Rib was alright, but not fall off the bone done. It also had a lot of rub covering the meat, so that is most of the flavor you got. The pulled pork was by far the best thing on the plate. Juicy and full of flavor. Nothing needed to add flavor or cover up the taste. My husband's riblet was dried out. He also had fries (which is one of his favorite foods, but he found hard to eat with the horrible ketchup), flavorless coleslaw, dry cornbread, some other meat, and pulled pork. The best thing was the pulled pork. All of the barbecue sauces were sweet and vinegary, with no real bbq flavor to them. There was no heat to the "hot" BBQ sauce. Just bland flavor. We will not be going back.

I contacted Brian’s BBQ to cater a wedding in November back in May. Everything started out great, Lizzie the catering Manager was quick to respond and answer all of my questions I had in regards to menu, pricing, etc. After going over our menu choice and gathering all of the details she presented me with a proposal. The proposal was everything we wanted but I wanted to change our hors dourvers /appetizers due to increase in cost which I let her know via email. After that, almost a month goes by and I don’t hear anything back so I decide to call and see if I could speak with someone on the phone. Allison (new catering person) takes over the conversation and reviews everything. She also explains to me they’ve had changes within the company and she’d be helping me from here out(no problem, I understand things happen). So I told her what we wanted to change and she assured me she would get back with me about our appetizer choice and what they could do as far as pricing and what we wanted. Over a week goes by, no phone call or email from them again. So I call again to see if there was an update. The general manager took over the call (don’t remember his name) he gathers the same information I’ve given to two others and says he will have someone call me as soon as they’re on schedule. Next day, Jolene calls (another new catering person) asks the same thing I’ve told 3 others, I’ve explained what we were looking for, our original proposal, etc. She also says she will look into the hor dourves/appetizers they can offer us and get back with me shortly after they talked to their supplier. She also assured me she’d be calling me back to give me a few options on what we discussed. So 4 days later (today) I get another phone call from Allison at Brian’s BBQ. I was super excited thinking they finally got everything worked out for us and we were ready to confirm payment and get everything finalized. Instead, she states that they’ve been super busy with catering and unfortunately now they don’t have our date of 11.02.19 available to cater our wedding and completely cancels. The lack of communication between management, and employees is unreal. To get so far into a process with a customer and then just completely cancel is very unfortunate. We’ve been Brian’s BBQ customers for years, but this experience has...

Place has gone down hill since our last visit a few months ago. First off I felt like we were more of a bother to our server anything we kept getting short answers or smart remarks. I asked if there was a kids price salad bar she said no. Ok can we add it to a meal and let him have it instead of paying full price he's 9 and only ate one plate of lettuce and dressing. Her response not if I want to keep my job I just looked at her like um ok. It was me and my three boys the other two got kids meals. One didn't eat it his cause he said the chicken tastes like fish which another adult did confirm. Also you would think kids drinks are cheaper or free with meal like most places oh no it's the same price has an adult drink but half the size. When I asked it was blamed on inflation lol. Also the salad bar to me was not worth the price the lettuce was meh and the ranch dressing was watery and tasteless. Only thing worth eating was the Mac salad and potato salad. Oh and drinks god forbid you want a fresh cup of ice our server just plopped a big Styrofoam cup in front me and basically had me pouring my own drink and I like my ice but that's what ever. So bottom line is go here if your an adult but if you take kids be prepared to be nickel and dimed what they charge for kids is outrageous and the excuse is even worse. If I'm paying the same price I expect them to get the same size cup and attention. They did remove the kid chicken bites since my son didn't eat it. But the manger and three employees made sure to have input on it which I felt was not necessary.

I know most will read this and say sounds like you can't afford to eat out. Money wasn't the issue the principal is. Charging kids has adults but giving them half isn't right.

Has for the service that's a different issue I did tip cause it's the right thing but not has much has...
