We've been here twice, both times this month and unfortunately both times were not good experiences. The first visit, we waited for 30 minutes after asking for the check before we decided to just leave cash on the table since the server never came back with it. Once we got up to leave, the server comes flying over and says she'll get the check. 30 minutes is too long to wait for a check and it's too long to not check in on a table. The 2nd visit yesterday for St Patrick's Day was worse. We waited 15 minutes before our server came over to take our order. She was in the back for a long time. The food came out fast. The brisket nachos hardly had any toppings and were mainly chips and sour cream and looked nothing like the Instagram picture the restaurant posted. There was a large pile of bare chips leftover once we ate the chips thay had minimal topping. The worst part was that we both ordered beer with our meals and I received my beer but my fiance never received his Guiness. We received our Irish Reubans and they were both burnt. The main flavor of the reuban was just burnt and unpleasant. I ate a few bites and got a box but Ill probably just throw it away. My fiance had no drink for his entire dry meal and was choking at one point with no drink. I watched as the server checked in on her other tables and skipped right over ours even when I tried waving her down. She kept disappearing into the back. She finally came back once my fiance was done with his meal and asked what I needed. I reminded her we are still waiting on his Guiness. She said they were having keg problems. Why weren't we notified of this or offered another drink?! He ordered something else and it didn't arrive til after we were done eating. We had to share my beer with our meals. She never checked in on us once, I had to flag her down both times for the beer we didn't get and for the check. The check came and she charged us for the Guiness and said not to worry that it's the same price as the IPA we substituted, we immediately questioned this and she just argued that the price is the same. When she came back we pointed out the IPA I ordered was cheaper and it didnt seem right. She then realized she was wrong and took it off the check since she felt bad for lying to us and overcharging. The only good thing from our experience was the live music. I don't think we will be back any time soon, if ever. I hope the restaurant sees this and can focus on their staff checking in on tables more or they will lose customers like us that frequently enjoy going out to eat and supporting local restaurants. The food needs drastic improvement too. Burnt food shouldnt be served. We were very neglected both visits. If we do ever go back and the experience changes, I will update my review. I cannot recommend this place...

Good drinks, awful service. Edited for owner We arrived at the whiskey jar shortly before 4 o'clock on Sunday, we were welcomed in and greeted by a woman who made small talk than asked if we wanted to start with a round of drinks. We got our drink orders in, waited a few minutes than a different employee brought them out to us, maybe 10 minutes after arriving. While enjoying the drinks and viewing the menus we decided on what to eat, still waiting for service and interaction from any one of the staff members that all seemed to be pre-occupied with wiping down the back room or helping the other 2 tables that were in attendance at the time. After waiting until about 4:40, my wife approached the bar as there were 3 women there that did not appear busy, upon asking for some service a maybe (I'd say) middle aged woman, blonde and on the shorter side came over to ask what we want (this is where it gets colorful) After she assures us there was some miscommunication, as the woman who seated us was nowhere to be found at this time, we stated we had been sitting there waiting for roughly 40 minutes and watched as people working walked by countless times, never bothering to check in. After this waitress asks what we would like to order, wife states we wanted and appetizer and she would get a wrap of some variety. The waitress addressed that and began to act as if the order was complete and myself or my 10 year old did not want to eat, I spoke up asking if we weren't allowed to order? She said we were sharing the pretzel and the club wrap so she didn't understand what we were asking, I clarified that the pretzel was an appetizer and the wrap was for my wife but my son and I still needed to order, which she again did not understand. So we repeated it again, to which she seemed visibly confused and she asked if we had been helped yet, told her we received drinks and that was it but we would like to order food after waiting for 40 minutes. She apologized stating she didn't understand and that her shift just started, she just got there, although she was there the entire time we were there. I believe she was either intoxicated or under the influence of something other than alcohol, we told her to forget the order, we will pay for the cocktails and leave to which she just told us to leave. Rather disappointing. Not looking to have it "made up to us" but maybe address some of the issues with wait staff, only takes one bad egg to...

I have been there 3 times yet to find a food that is worth the high prices. The WJ Brisket is just a oven cooked not smoked at all, not much flavor, if you advertise Smoked, at least put some liquid smoke flavor on it. but was still somewhat tender. The Jalapeno popper egg rolls, had very little pepper in it, so just a cream cheese egg roll for $15, very disappointed, the steak Skewers, were tough, lots of Grisel, and fat! for $15, could at least use a good cut of meat, but they were tasty. The Burger was not great if not for the toppings, would have not had any flavor, better flavor Burgers just down the street for a lot less money. They should put up sound baffles in the bar area, way to noisy, can hardly hear the singers when they play, even when no music can't hear the person your talking with, or the servers. I do like the overall atmosphere, employees are great. I will keep going back, even though prices are very high, for the quality of food I have tasted, hopefully Ill find something tasteful to eat, that I would order a...

I ordered walleye, which was really good. The fries were cold and rubbery. Had they used the 2 bite rule and checked back, they could have resolved it. I ordered 2 Bloody Mary's, and they were OK. I thought well let's give the wings a try. I ordered these dry rub wings to go to try something else on the menu. They put so much seasoning on them like they were seasoning a 10 lb Prime Rib roast. You can't taste the chicken. I guess this place is new and they will improve maybe. I worked in many restaurants as a cook, bartender, waiter, manager, and trainer. I also have been to cooking school. But was it worth the 54 plus dollars I paid. No.. The fries I couldn't and wouldn't eat. The wings I had to scrap the seasoning off just to get a couple down before I threw them out. They were not edible. I would say I will give it another try sometime, but I am just not feeling it. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Who knows.

The Whiskey Jar, the atmosphere was neat, intriguing actually. The service was extremely slow. And for a place called the "Whiskey" jar, there was no Whiskey menu. I ordered the $24 New York Strip steak. I did not receive a New York strip steak AND it was the only steak on the menu! So how do you get that one wrong? It was supose to be cooked in a cast iron skillet with butter, rosemary and thyme (the waitress said). I tasted none of the above and there were no bits of any herb on my steak, and it did not taste as if it was cooked in herbs. I asked for medium well, that was imposible based on the thickness of my steak. It was about as thick as a number 2 pencil. The sides were good.
