Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Delano

I went here for lunch today! Ordered two $5 lunches. I decided since my daughter wasn't with me, and I didnt know what she'd want for sure, to get her sundae coupon instead of the sundae at that time. Well, after having to wait for 10+ minutes for them to bring the food out, I drove back to Rockford from Delano. Once back I realized something was missing, they never gave me the coupon! So, I called. They were kind enough, saying they could send it out to me, but if I say I was going to come get it, they couldn't guarentee it would be here if I forgot. Since I had to go back later to retrieve my younger child from school later, I planned to pick it up. Well, my older one said what kind she'd like and I decided to just get the sundae while there. The girl behind the register said ok what kind, I told her. She walked away. I had decided to get my younger one I'd just picked up a cone so she wouldn't be left out. But she NEVER ASKED ME IF I WANTED SOMETHING MORE. A different man came over to help us. I ordered the kid cone. Meanwhile she puts this miniature sundae looking thing down without the lid in front of my little one on the counter! I said I'm going to need a lid for that to take it to my daughter at home, as I'd said my other daughter decided she'd like to get her sundae now when I ordered it! As I placed the lid on it, I seen it wasn't an illusion, it seriously was so small I could have put a soda lid on it and been fine! The center was narrow it literally was half the height of the one I'd received earlier in the day for myself. When I asked if this is the normal size amount, obviously indicating it was not what I expected, she actually asked me what do I mean?! I explained how mine this afternoon had been like twice the icecream. She stated well they are only supposed to be 5 oz!(This was less I am sure, I almost asked for a scale!) FIRST OF ALL, THEY messed up by not giving me the coupon to begin with. SECOND they can clearly see I'm not happy with this, and yet they do not offer to add even a dollop more of icecream to it! I mean seriously, where is the customer respect?! How about, you messed up then you skimp out on the size of the treat! It was literally half the size of the pictures on the menus!!! INSANE! I won't be going back for a long long while, and to think, with my daughters birthday literally in 2 days, I was thinking of buying a cake from them because she asked for an icecream cake! If I do, you can guarantee it sure won't be from this DQ!( They got 2 stars because they were respectable enough to trust I was honestly missing my treat coupon, otherwise I'd give them a 1 star. Tonight I went to DQ to get an ice cream cake. I stood up at the counter for several min before anyone even acknowledged me. All I was getting was a cake. I asked if someone could please ring us up and one kid just looked at me and continued packing buns in a plastic container. So then I said, can I talk to a manager, only because everyone just ignored me and there was 8 people behind the counter and one person sweeping. The manager came over and rudely said, I’ll stop making other people’s food for you to ring you up…. After he rang me up, he then rudely said do you need bag and I said you don’t need to be rude, then he snapped back at me and said I was being rude. They were clearly trying to close the store and this manager with a Minnesota Twins tattoo on his leg, acted like it was an inconvenience to ring me up. This is terrible customer service, I should not have to wait to buy a cake when there are several employees always there working. I will no longer be going to the Delano DQ. Even when I go through the drive through I have to sit and wait 5-10 minutes to get my food. The are other DQ’s around this area that would be happy to ring me up and not make me feel like an inconvenience to...

My restaurant reviews are not a comparison (because everything would rate 1 star compared to my best experience) but rather does it live up to expectations?

I don't have high expectations for fast food. Decent food, fast service, I don't particularly even need it served with a smile. Clean restaurant.

This particular location is always friendly, always fast, and most importantly to me, one of the few fast food places that actually gets my order right every time. I'm tired of having a disappointed child with the wrong hamburger (all kiddo wants is ketchup, it shouldn't be hard). I really appreciate this spot for always getting it right, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Genuinely nice people.

I wouldn't call this place clean. I think it's a combination of aging facilities and consistent service that doesn't leave time for cleaning but it always feels generally dirty and the atmosphere is depressing at best. Hopefully it's less depressing for the staff but it could use...
