Mr. P's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Delaware

Well let’s begin with I tried to call at 5 pm for 2 take out pizza was told would not be ready till 8 ish so I said okay I will come down so I drove over and when I arrived heard them tell someone 20 to 30 minutes so when I got to the counter I asked why I was told 8 ish for pick up they said that person was eating in( understandably they would get service first ) but when I asked about how long I was told could not guarantee before 8 pm so I was confused it’s now 530 I though 2 1/2 hours for a pizza they said they were busy I counted the slips hangin they had about 9 and who knows how many pizzas were on each slip. So I asked to speak to the manager and was told it was the women who was very short and somewhat rude about the entire transaction I said okay fine then her name was Lauren but even though I said fine she said her last name and spelled it I told her I was going to post something on yelp and she said Great We love yelp so I was like okay then anyway I paid the 73 dollars waited at the counter and said how will I know when my pizza is ready she came right over and said go sit in you car and we will call you and just laughed I left went to my car and called the people I was picking up the pizza for they said hmmm well that’s way to long go get a refund we will order from Nicola and remind them January and February are coming when they are gonna need the locals I however never dealt with this Mr P before so I pretty sure I won’t be going back not to pick anything up and definitely not waiting possibly 2 1/2 hours for a pizza I never heard they could not give you a accurate time before oh well...

My husband and I came for a quick trip from Philadelphia and we stumbled upon this gem on our way home! First, the brick oven pizza was incredible. The dough was fresh, the crust was perfect, the sauce was better than homemade and the size of the pizza for two to share was wonderful. The price was also a steal for the quality you got. In addition to the pizza being excellent, the craft beer selection was awesome! So many options to choose from, that they even let us sample before diving in to drink a pint. We loved this place when we left, that we promised we would be back next time we were in town!

So now I have to comment on the incredible staff at Mr. Ps... that solidified that not only would we be back, but we would tell everyone we knew about this great place! 24 hours after arriving back home in Philadelphia, I had realized I had left my purse in the restaurant. In my distress, I immediately called the restaurant to see if the purse was still there. As soon as Rick picked up the phone, he reassured me the purse was there and that he would next day mail the purse to us and save us the 6 hour drive there and back. I just received my purse, as promised 24 hours later. There are still good people in this world and Rick and the staff at Mr. Ps are among those! We are forever grateful for the service, extra mile and generosity this restaurant showed us. They saved us time, multiple headaches in replacing everything in my wallet, and stress over the situation. We are forever thankful and will most certainly come back!

Review is NOT for the squeamish!

Firstly, pizza is okay, ordered a few times, always pick-up, no issues. However, one star for service and quality, reason being: ordered a large pizza, took it home, found several pieces of what looked like dirty mop strands stuck/baked on bottom of entire pizza. All fairness, I'm not a restaurant owner, so I gave the establishment a call, thought maybe they'd explain how the oven surfaces are maybe cleaned or oiled with "mop" like tools (I don't know, was trying to keep an open mind) because I would hate to think an actual dirty floor mop made it's way into the pizza oven. However, when I called, the manager or whoever was speaking on behalf of the restaurant, gave zero explanation and made no attempt to regain my trust, compensate, refund, or keep my continued business. Seriously?? I couldn't have been more open to hearing their take on what might have tainted the food and, being a local myself, would have considered giving repeat business if they had just owned up and apologized, for, you know, giving me a...
