Scoops — Restaurant in Delaware

Not a great first impression. They made customers pay extra for their ice cream tonight.

Wanted to treat my (ice cream loving) wife to a cool sweet treat after dinner. Found Scoops online and it seemed perfect.

She ordered a vanilla soft serve dipped sugar cone only to be told that the soft serve machine was overheating and out of service. That wasn't so bad because she was satisfied with the (more expensive, I later learned) "hand dipped" cone.

But then I overheard the clerk at the next window telling a customer that the soft serve machine was overheating, so the specialty item he'd ordered would cost him "a dollar more"!!

In my (consumer oriented) opinion, the more savvy business move would have been to offer the hand dipped items at the same (or even slightly discounted) price as the (currently unavailable) soft serve treats.

Overheated, frustrated patrons might be more inclined to return if they weren't being upsold because of an overheated soft serve machine.

Been going here for 6 years, now the last two time I been here the 2019 season, my orders are not what i ask for, i dont understand. They are kids that wait on you , write down on paper exactly what you ask for then give you want they want. I ask for hand dip last two times and get machine soft serve, two banana splits worth, not to mention you pay extra with hand dipped. My neighbor just took his family there also, and he said his ice cream was melted before he drove across the street to our development, which is why I pay for hand dipped, to last longer. But for two banana splits and one plain cup of vanilla ice cream 17$ some change and a 2$ tip... and get home , take out freezer after dinner, then not what you pay for, is really mest up feeling, wife says go back every time, hell I dont even want to go the first time. But hey, if you catch a adult, or the owner , nice lady, you wont have no problems, but if you give your order to a kid...

My partner and I very much enjoy this spot in the warmer days! We like to take the bike out for a ride and end the day with dessert on occasion. It’s a past time I use to enjoy with my dad :)

Scoops has a variety of frozen desserts and lots of wonderful yummy flavors to choose from! I panicked and went with my usual chocolate but only because I was torn between banana pudding, mint cc or a Cookie Monster sundae!

Tonight we treated ourselves for the first time since last year. We made it just shortly after closing but the owner was gracious enough to allow us to be her last customers of the day!
