I visited the Tea Trolley @ 10am on October 4th for the first time since new ownership has taken over. I did not know what to expect but I was blown away. The house is still gorgeous as always. Our server was extremely personable and made sure that we had everything we needed and we never once felt as if we were left waiting. Then the food came and I was really impressed. I had the Savory Tea option, which included unlimited tea, a scone with the accompanying clotted cream, lemon curd and apple butter, 2 generous slices of bacon/onion quiche and a salad. I added on the soup for a minimal charge and selected the butternut squash soup. From my first taste of the soup, served at the perfect temperature, I was very happy that we had come. It was delicious; maybe the best soup that I have ever had. My next plate arrived with the salad nestled between the two slices of quiche. The salad was also unbelievably delicious. It was mixed greens with what I believe were cranberries, sweet potato and goat cheese with an oil based dressing and all worked so perfectly together that I would have been happy with the salad alone. But the perfectly cooked and wonderfully enjoyable quiche just added to a pretty perfect meal. I felt as if I were eating from a high-end restaurant based on the exciting flavors, the way they worked so well together and the overall quality of the food I received. Of course, the scone was just as delicious as always. And the tea was pretty perfect; I had apple cinnamon coffee cake tea and it had been steeped flawlessly and served at just the right temperature. My wife chose to have the Sweet Tea option which included a scone and three mini desserts with her bottomless tea. Everything she had was as amazing as it looked. I can think of no way to improve on what we received in terms of service, food, ambiance... everything. I feel like this was an exceptional value for what we paid and would wholeheartedly recommend that anyone, even if you don't think that you like tea or if you think that a tea house is too fancy, give the Tea Trolley a try, either for the first time or for the first time since ownership changed. I honestly had a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable experience and I am thrilled to see that things will continue to be run with skill and care and, to be completely honest, fully upgraded food offerings. 100% recommended without...
Read moreI rarely write a negative review but this was a frustrating experience. My sisters and I purchased a Christmas Tea and were excited to attend yesterday. We were seated upstairs . It took awhile for our room to get waited on. They brought two tea options one of which we liked. We also enjoyed the soup. Sadly, thats where our positive experience ended. An 11/2 hour's in and we had only been served a soup and our salad. We had no tea left in our kettle and had asked for it awhile ago. My sister said, do you realize we are at a tea party and have still only been served soup and salad and we have no tea. When they finally delivered our main food . It looked good but none of us cared for our savory or our sweets. The server serving us had a dirty apron filled with smeared food. She had little personality and did not interact at all. No explanation of the foods or tea. She just sat stuff down and said enjoy walked away. We cut our sweets in half to taste and decided to leave our other halves behind. The best part of the tea was the one tea called snowflake and the soup. It was not cohesive with long waits in between each course. There was a Christmas Tree in our room but other than that there was no decorations. The way the table was set, only one of us had a view of the tree. The other two’s faced completely bare walls. The walls had no pictures or decorations of any kind. It did have a long radiator and that was the view for two of us. We looked around the room and oddly not one of the walls had any decorations. It was also very chilly at our table. The room just lacked a cozy and christmassy feel. The desserts served were also not decorated christmassy. Last year we went to another Christmas Tea in our hometown and it was decked out with decorative servers to decorated food with Christmas music. The servers explained each item and were very interactive and the experience had a good flow between courses. That is what we rightfully expected here because one pays extra for a Christmas Tea vs a regular Tea. We can only compare this to the other two tea houses we have gone to and this was by far a let down for all three of us. The atmosphere was dingy, the food was just ok and overall it was not festive. We will not return to the Tea Trolly. Sadly, it was not as expected and frankly a let down for our...
Read moreI loved it! The atmosphere was perfect. The grounds and interior were extensively decorated for the holidays. The service was great, our server was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was more filling than I thought it would be and delicious as well! The tea selection was wonderful, I can't wait to try more flavors.
The gift shop was small but had a plentiful selection of loose teas for purchase to take home. I did find they had all the expected accoutrements for making that perfect pot of tea at home including strainers, gorgeous tea pots and intricately patterned tea cups with matching saucers. The ambience was very calming especially with the gentle instrumental Christmas music that was playing throughout the dining room and gift shop area.
My friend took me for my birthday lunch since we're both fans of The Crown and I'm a big fan of Downton Abbey. We decided to make it a monthly lunch date. It's a welcoming destination which also included a fairly large parking area behind the building as well as a handicapped parking area and a ramp on the side of the building. It was so welcoming that we had a 3 hour lunch and never felt rushed in the least.
Bravo to the Tea Trolley for a job well done! See...
