El Tapatio Cafe & Cantina — Restaurant in Denison

Horrible tasting food and discriminatory service! If I could give 0 stars, I would have! I ordered a cheese enchilada plate and they were the nastiest enchiladas I've ever tasted! The cheese inside the enchiladas was not melted, gosh knows what kind of sauce that was on top of the them, the rice was still hard and the beans tasted like they had been prepared in day old grease! The server, kept ignoring me and acted like they didn't want to serve me. I was the only African American in the establishment at the time and I felt very awkward. Each time I tried to get help from my server, they'd walk by me, as if they couldn't hear me, and service other tables. All I got was water and wanted a refill with more ice and when I was finally acknowledged, I got the water with hardly any ice. So I tried asking my server again and was passed over for people who had just sat down. When the server did come over, finally, it was to give me my check to pay and I couldn't believe how much it was. For the quality of food and service I received, it wasn't worth it. I didn't speak to the manager and I didn't leave a tip since I just wanted to leave. If you're looking for good Mexican food, this ain't it and be careful if you're African American because they will bypass you. I highly recommend not eating here to anyone; unless you're into high-priced, bland, tasteless, food and if your African American, a bit of discrimination. I'll stick to Lupe's in Sherman from now on. The food and service there is spot on! I really wish I could give 0 stars to this place! They're not worth...

Food tasted AMAZING! Service was horrible, not just our waitress but walking in there was a line of people checking out with no one up front. Then finally someone comes and starts checking people out while a bunch of us were trying to get a table. It was chaos. Finally we we are able to speak to the guy at the front who said 10 minute wait. We ended up waiting 20 minutes and 3 parties behind us were seated before us. The waitress was there intermittently. She dropped off our drinks and asked if we were ready to order and we all said yes and right when we were about to order she walked away and to the kitchen. We thought well maybe she left her pad back there but would have been nice for her to say somthing then she comes out and proceeds to serve 2 other tables and clean a third.... If you don’t want to seat people at 9:30 pm when you are open until 10:00pm then tell people you are not seating any new parties. We walked in at 9:30 and the man at the desk asked if we had a to go order. I said no and he looked at his watch and sat us. I would understand him being put out if the food was made to order or high end but this is Mexican food. All the same ingredients just rearranged into different meals. Our server was very rude. She was so rude that we didn’t leave a tip (not something I ordinarily do). The man that we paid grabbed the ticket out of my hand because there was no tip. There was no reason to be rude to us.
