China Buffet — Restaurant in Denton Township

While the food wasn't really bad, it wasn't really good either. I've had way better. It was a few dollars more with less options then the other places ive been to. The lo mein noodles were straight up spaghetti noodles. Some of the chicken dishes were tough and chewy. The crab ragoon filling was really sweet and runny for some reason. I can vouch for the little debbies cut up on the desert trays! That was funny! And no sushi. But there were some good options too. The teriyaki chicken on a stick was really good. So was the pepper steak and chicken and broccoli. And a few others. There was a steady flow of customers coming in, so it isn't a horrible place to eat. We used to come here many years ago and thought it was good until we tried other buffets. Chens in Saginaw is my absolute favorite. They have a flat top and will grill you anything you want. And a very wide selection of items. The buffet in Tawas City is a very close second. No grill but still a wide selection. And The buffet in Traverse city is my 3rd favorite. Again, no grill but a pretty good selection. All have sushi. So before you settle and say this place is the best, I'd suggest trying a couple other places also. It's not a bad place to eat. But I probably wouldn't come back. Especially now that the owners of the Tawas buffet are opening another place in...

Ok .....food is very good, usually the waitress are great too. The ones that are there all the time are good. But today one of the new waitresses, she’s very tall and skinny with above shoulder length hair , came over to our table and grabbed napkins that my mother went and took from the waitress station. No one had came over to check on us therefore my mom went and grabbed some. Well, she must have grabbed the wrong napkins because the new waitress took them off our table and replaced them with some that were very thin. Also she went and placed the napkins that she had taken from our table on clean silverware and place them on a new table mind you we have already touched these napkins not saying that my mom or myself had anything or any type of diseases but that could just spread germs colds and viruses you name it very unsanitary 👎 also my mother asked her right before we left if she wanted the rest of the thin napkins that she gave us back and she took them and said thank you probably going to give them to somebody else after we’ve touched...

It's a Chinese buffet in a strip mall in Houghton Lake, Michigan.

For some of you, I could just leave it at that. But it's definitely a good choice if you're thinking to pass on it.

It gets a few negative 'points' for it's kind of run-down location, the cost, and the horrible looking horizontal freezer visible in the dining area (looks pretty tacky, smells even worse if you're unlucky enough to take the table right next to it. It smells like they need to clean it, because you occasionally get a whiff only when at that table, of a stenchy freezer burnt smell. Not exactly appetizing.

Apart from that?... the food is pretty great actually which is why you want to go there right? Its definitely the better choice for Chinese in Houghton Lake.
