Powell's Restaurant — Restaurant in Denton Township

Service took for ever. Gave us cans of soda instead of fountain. Not sure that you can resell store-bought cans in a restaurant. It IS a convenient way to charge for refills. Had to ask for refills, strange since I had coffee. Food took over 40 minutes to arrive. Two tables that arrived after us were served, paid, and left before we got our food. I ordered a "Cold Roast Beef Sandwich". What I got was what appeared to be left over roast beef from a cooler (chunks, not slices) between plain white bread. Toasted bread? No. Seasoning? No. Any type of cheese or dressing? No. No checkback no anything. It was just strange. My husband and I went in for the first time Sunday Labor Day weekend. We were Ignored and when we waved at the older man working to try to get service he sarcastically waved back and finally decided to come to our table no greeting or hello at all. We stated we knew what we wanted to order he grabs a chair plops down in it and states”Good for you!” He was clearly annoyed and rude as hell. I was shocked to be treated so bad I asked what? I love visiting Powell's whenever I'm in Houghton Lake. The food is delicious and the people who work there are very friendly and welcoming. They have the best coffee and their bacon is always cooked perfectly. This is a family friendly restaurant. The food is reasonably priced. On this visit, I got eggs, bacon, pancakes and coffee. The menu says the pancakes are small, but it was more than I could eat! It seemed like, no matter how much coffee I drank, my cup was always full. I never had to ask for a refill. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Houghton Lake...
