It was just O.K. - Definitely not authentic Mexican Food. First of all, I had a Local Flavor voucher. Because of the high reviews I was looking forward to our visit. We, chose to eat in, as compared to carry out . To start, we ordered the Queso Fundito appetizer. It was barely warm. We should have sent it back, but we were hungry.
I knew that I wanted the cheese and onion enchiladas, my son previewed the menu prior to visiting, so he knew what he wanted - the Pork Bar-b-Que burrito. My husband had not seen the menu. He later said that the waitress made him feel rushed. In the end, he ordered the BBQ burrito as well.
The bottom line is that my husband and son both left half of their burritos uneaten. Not so weird for my spouse, but when a young adult male with a healthy appetite doesn't finish his meal, something is off.
My enchiladas were also a disappointment. The menu offered three types of sauces - Verde, Rojas or Hot. My experiences is that cheese enchiladas come with a red sauce (Rojas). When I ordered, I was not asked which I preferred, and quite frankly I forgot to clarify - I got the Verde Sauce. At the same time, had the server asked, I would not have chosen "Verde." When asked how everything was, I mentioned to the waitress that I failed to clarify what sauce I wanted. Her reply was that if someone doesn't clarify, they are not supposed to ask. How weird is that???? My son believes she was embarrassed because she messed up.
I like Verde sauce, but it is usually more lime flavored and savory. The sauce on my enchiladas was sugary-sweet - kind of a strange contrast to what I expected.
For our future Mexican Food cravings, we will visit our favorite spot Fiesta Mexicana in Hammonton. Their food is authentic, and their Margaritas are to die for! The extra travel time...
Read moreAs I am writing this, I still can't believe what just happened. So unbelievably unprofessional and rude. I went to eat here with a few friends. We all ordered and sat down to eat. I liked my food, but one of friends didn't like it at all. She let the waitress know. The waitress was nice and asked if my friend would like something else, and my friend declined. I guess the waitress then went into the back to discuss it with the manager. The waitress comes back to the front behind the register. Now, keep in mind that this place is smaller and we are sitting about 10 feet or less away from the register. The manager comes out the back and goes to the waitress. He then proceeds to loudly and rudely tell her if someone doesn't like the food oh well that's their problem. They don't replace food or give refunds. It's not their policy. Those were about his exact words, we could clearly hear and see him. I heard the waitress quietly reply that she wouldn't do it that way. I almost was more upset for the waitress than us. It was the most unprofessional behavior I have ever seen. I couldn't believe he did that. He knew we were sitting right there. If that is your policy, fine whatever, even though that's not usually how restaurants do it. But to wait to respond to the waitress until he was right in front us, it was just beyond rude. I'll...
Read moreThe people giving this place more than one star do not have tastebuds. To even call this Mexican food is an insult. First of all, everything was bland and completely flavorless. The inside of the chimi was just chicken and over loaded with cheese. The outside was a big ball of grease. The quesadilla was bland, I could have made it better myself I am not even sure what the queso fundido was, but it sure as heck wasn't queso fundido. The churros tastes like they were made two days ago. The chips were cheap, nasty, overly salted store bought chips. I mean if you're going to serve store bought at least don't but the cheap ones. The "homemade" salsa tasted like they used all canned ingredients(no fresh tomatoes whatsoever) and was again bland. The rice and beans were mixed together and looked like a Caribbean style of rice and beans, which would have been fine, except it was dry and had no flavor. The empanada filling was disgusting and dry while the outside was a big ball of grease. To top things off this it's expensive. They have a lot of nerve for cutting corners the way they do and charging what they charge. I will never order from here again. Seriously, save your money go to taco bell you'll have a...
