My family and I have been patrons of this establishment for many years- we have had a few great meals and some not so great meals. We never complain…we continue to return. My dad is elderly and doesn’t travel well so although we are sometimes disappointed this diner suits are needs as we live close by A few months ago a family member had the meatloaf dinner and she thought it was awful. She ate most of it because again- we don’t complain but she did mention it to the waitress as we were leaving. I recall the waitress responding with “Well you ate all of it!!!”- we were really turned off by this attitude as it would have been much more Cordial to respond with “Im sorry- next time let us know so we can make it right”… or whatever. We hadn’t been back in months due to this experience. Today my family decided to return. We were led to a table in the middle of the room. We asked if there was an available booth. A wait person pointed to a booth… we said that would be fine and we were told to sit and they would clean it. We didn’t see who cleaned the table as we were busy chatting, however the waitress told us we were all set. We sat at the booth and discovered the table was a giant sloppy, soggy mess. No place mats or napkins or utensils were on the table it was just a wet, disgusting mess. We all had our elbows in it and needless to say I was a bit annoyed. I asked my dad to hand me a napkin from another table So I could clean it properly and dry it up and when I was done I tossed the napkin on the other table. Shortly there after the short squatty waitress with the top knot on top of her head and the tats running up and down her arms approached us and asked “why would we do such a thing?”.. to which I replied - “Well we were seated at a wet, sloppy table” to which she replied- “Please, get over it” had my dad not been blocking me in the booth it may have turned much uglier. Never the less we remained calm- We have decided after today that we’ve had enough of the mediocre food here and the rude, snarly waitresses. It’s never been great…the food is always sub par… and we believe that good service is having a good attitude and pleasant disposition… making customers feel welcome-in a clean environment… especially around food… this is where the gratuity comes in as well…as we are not being served for free- we are paying for service. We were not made to feel welcome today or valued as customers… we will not be coming anymore to eat the sub par food and to contend with the snarkley,...
Read moreI am a foodie, and my favorite food is the turkey meal and also the Open- Faced turkey sandwich meal. I have been to several diners for this meal but in my opinion Valley Diner serves up the best Open-Faced turkey sandwich and Turkey dinner, It comes with a salad, potato, vegetable, gravy and cranberry sauce. The Open-Faced sandwich is like the turkey meal but with bread instead of stuffing. What I like about Valley Diner's Open-Faced Turkey Sandwich is that it is not too salty. You can add more salt, but it doesn't over do it. The potatoes are thick and rustic tasting. They serve a creamy gravy, which is good, and they are generous if you want more. The cranberry sauce is not flat nor canned but nice and chunky with both sauce and cut cranberries. I ordered the Cole slaw, which is creamy and fresh tasting. The meals are served on large plates with very generous portions. The sandwich had at least an inch thick of sliced turkey, and the potatoes creamy but thick with a few small chunks of potatoes and tiny specks of skin giving it a rustic taste. All the food was served hot in a timely manner. The waitress, Hiedi , was extremely polite and professional. She was quick to warm up my tea, bringing an extra tea bag. The diner was very clean with added partitions for Covid-19 protection. They added regional and local craft brew to their variety of drinks, posting it across from the booths. Some of the regional crafts brew include Scoops Juice Bomb IPA, Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout, Pink Organic Winter IPA, Mayflower Porter and DownEast Cider Original Blend. Their local craft beers include Badson Doobious IPA, Relic The Whim, East Rock Weisse Beer, and Crimson Cove New England IPA. The Open-Faced Turkey sandwich was 14.99, tea 2.99, and with ta, it totaled 18.44, which is not bad considering you have an entire meal plus more to bring home. Valley Diner will provide containers for the gravy, vegetables, and cranberry sauce. They provide a brown bag and plastic bag to separate the sides from the turkey.. They have recycle plastic bags for take out for your meal. I would recommend coming here for an awesome turkey dinner or Open- Faced Turkey sandwich. It's just like Thanksgiving meal without the side of...
Read moreWas traveling and made the mistake of stopping. Diner was clean and we were sat promptly but those are the only good things I can say. Our waiter Giovanni was very abrupt and rude. Most have forgotten to send our order bc it took just shy of an hour to receive our meals which were incorrect. He dropped our food on the table and turned and left not to be seen again. After waiting almost 10 minutes for him to reappear to let him know our orders were incorrect finally had to flag down another waitress and ask her for help. She was very sweet and kind and took our incorrect orders back to the kitchen. Even after seeing her tell our waiter he never came back to find out how things were or to apologize. I’m fact he never came back to our table again. After 15 more minutes of sitting with no meals I finally had to flag down the manager to ask him to please bring us our check. The manager was very kind and polite and apologetic and adjusted our check accordingly. Even after all of this when we were leaving I approached our waiter and handed him a cash tip (which he didn’t really deserve) and he didn’t even have the common courtesy to apologize for basically just leaving us to sit at the table nor did he even respond with a thank you. I have worked in the restaurant industry as a server, busperson, hostess and even filling in as dishwasher or helping in the kitchen when needed for almost 20 years and have learned that mistakes happen, I make plenty of them but you need to apologize for these mistakes and thank your customers for coming. I can’t comment on the quality of the food bc after almost 2 hours here all we received was a dinner salad and cup of soup. If we do stop again we will be sure to request NOT to sit in this gentlemen’s section, but I’m sure if he continues with his customer service this way he won’t last long. Sorry Valley Diner, I am disappointed as we were looking forward to having an...
