I had the best table service of my life on a $23 bill. I’d give six stars if I could. Every review of this place praises both the food and the incredible service of Ali. It’s all justified. As soon as I walked in, alone on business travel, Ali (server; chef’s son) asks if I’m dining in. I say yes. He brings me a cup of soup on the house. I’ve been inside for 30 seconds. Ali recommends the Iraqi kebab, so I order it. He says it’s amazing with hummus and he’ll bring me some. With the hummus, he also brings two cups of a garlic spread and tells me to trust him. When I get my food, I have two additional charred, full tomatoes and an extra portion of meat. All of it is incredible. Ali refills my soup. When I’m done eating, Ali packs everything left into to-go boxes and brings me a cup of black cardamom tea. My bill comes and I’m only charged for the kebab. Y’all, Ali didn’t even bring me a pen to add a tip. He told me when I asked for a pen that tips made him uncomfortable. I visited this place from out of state and in a bad mood because of two days of delayed travel. At the end of this meal, I felt better about humanity. Ali kept telling me “take your time” every time he brought me something I didn’t ask for. This is food and company meant to be savored. I, a white Kansan, felt 100% like a family member in this Iraqi kitchen. Written in English above the soda refrigerator on a whiteboard is “Treat others how you want to be treated,” right next to their specials. They practice what they preach. The food truly is excellent, but Ali made the experience unparalleled. Please support this business. And please insist on tipping—this is a family business operated by extremely kind people. Don’t take advantage. Give back, just like they do.

I had the pleasure of dining at Edulis Grill Restaurant recently, and words cannot describe how enjoyable it was. We received first-rate service from the moment we walked in. Our server Ali caught our attention with his real friendliness, great communication skills, and nice manner. The restaurant itself has an inviting atmosphere because to its amazing cleanliness and neatness. It was as though I had entered a place where attention to detail was valued. The overall pleasant mood was enhanced by the careful attention to cleanliness. Let's now discuss the food, which is delicious! Every meal we received was wonderfully prepared. The complementary Abu Ali's Lentil soup was the best. The Qouzi, chicken shawarma wrap, meat shawarma wrap, and shish tawiq wrap were all tasty. There was something soothing about the way the dish tasted, like home-cooked food. We really did feel as though we had returned home through a culinary adventure. The time my family and I spent at Edulis Grill was quite enjoyable. The delicious meal and the atmosphere made for an unforgettable dining experience. Anyone searching for a restaurant with excellent food, welcoming service, and an inviting atmosphere should check out this restaurant. We would especially like to thank Abu Ali for his cooking and service and contribution to our wonderful vacation. Your commitment to serving delectable cuisine is greatly appreciated. I want the best for you and your son, and may God continue to bless you. Thank you, Edulis Grill, for a lovely eating experience!

Don’t be put off by the outside because sheeeeeesh Edulis Grill was a highlight of our recent trip to Detroit. We made it a point to try a bunch of different restaurants around Dearborn to try various authentic Middle Eastern cuisines. Usually I am the type to discount ratings on service/cleanliness as long as the food is banging but after various experiences of feeling somewhat ignored or treated differently for being bumbling outsiders at other establishments in the area, I do have to note how refreshing and just really nice it was to receive the warmth, patience, and hospitality that just radiated from the owner at Edulis, especially since this was our last quick meal in Detroit. Now on to the food, the most important part! The kebab was the best I’ve had in Detroit which means it is one of the best I’ve ever had full of subtle but vibrant flavors. Can’t describe it as anything but succulent simplicity on a plate. The lentil soup was great and just homey. Overall a perfect experience and I had to write this review even though this was a quick stop.
